Title: Logitech wingman
Post by: Shamus on January 12, 2000, 02:19:00 PM
I am currently using a digital extreme joystick and would like to get some pedals. Is anyone using this joystick with pedals, if so could you tell me brand and model?

Well shamus I'm in a similar situation I have a Wingman Interceptor.  I contacted CHproducts and they told me that the analog pedals wouldn't work with my digital joystick.  I don't know if this is a universal contraint or a problem just with the CHproducts pedals if you find a working solution please let me know.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I`m using a Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3-D stick with Thrustmaster Elite pedals, the only problem I`ve had is I have to go into the control panel and open the game controller before I enter A/H to insure the game recognizes it. I didn`t have this glitch with my Logitech Wingman Digital Extreme w/pedals. You have to have the latest Wingman software for it to work.

Analog- my stick is plugged into the "Y" connector on the pedals cable, then into my SB Live gameport.

I have a WM force USB and use it with analog TM RCS pedals plugged into the gameport. Works great. Latest drivers from Logitech are needed.

Shamus,

I have a 1 year old Wingman Extreme Digital joystick which I have plugged into a CH Pro throttle.  This in turn is plugged into CH Pedals.  What I had to do was to configure the joystick to work in analog mode rather than digital mode.  To do this, I seem to remember having to hold down one of the base buttons for 5 seconds while the computer was booting up.  Just had to do this once.

How or where did you find out how to do this ?

I have a wingman interceptor , with ch pedals .  Pro throttle sitting on the shelf     (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/frown.gif) .  I already wasted one sound card too . How did you check that it was anolog after ?

I just found the spot on Logitech's site .

However, if a WingMan Extreme Digital is being used in true DOS mode, it can be put in either Thrustmaster mode or CH Flightstick mode, if the game supports a joystick. Please refer to the documentation that came with the WingMan Extreme Digital for information on switching modes.

Logitech WingMan Extreme Digital - Analog/MS DOS Mode Operation

When the WingMan Extreme Digital is used under Windows 95/98 with the Logitech WingMan software installed, the joystick functions in digital mode. This means all buttons and the throttle are functional. However, many older DOS games require that Windows 95/98 be restarted in MS-DOS mode. When the computer is restarted into MS-DOS mode or booted to DOS, the joystick will operate in one of two modes: WingMan Extreme mode and CH Flightstick Mode.

WingMan Extreme Mode

WingMan Extreme Mode is the default analog operational mode. When using the WingMan Extreme emulation mode, the POV hat switch, the trigger and buttons 2, 3, and 4 can be used to perform commands. However, the throttle cannot be used. The primary advantage of the WingMan Extreme emulation mode is the ability to press multiple buttons simultaneously. For example, in Descent you can dodge fireballs with the POV hat switch while firing at the same time.

CH Flight Stick Mode (Throttle Mode)

In the CH Flightstick Pro emulation mode, the throttle, trigger and buttons 2, 3, and 4 can be used. However, the POV hat switch is not available and multiple buttons cannot be pressed at the same time. This mode is best used in racing games and flight simulators because the throttle can be used to control acceleration.

Switching Between Modes

When Windows restarts in MS DOS mode it will default to the WingMan Extreme mode. To switch to Throttle mode, press and hold button 5 (the base button closest to the cord) for five seconds. To return to WingMan Extreme mode, press and hold button 6 (the base button closest to the Logitech logo) for 5 seconds. Switching between modes should be done prior to launching the DOS game, as switching modes while the DOS game is running may cause erratic behavior of the WingMan Extreme Digital.
