Title: Self icon in MAs and/or film viewer
Post by: Krusty on September 23, 2010, 12:18:13 AM
Looking in some screenshots I'd like to be able to pick myself out of a squad sortie other than saying "I'm the one without an icon"... Also this would open a few possibilities if allowed in the film viewer as well, since you have no icon when viewed from other aircraft. If you wanted to see what they saw, the icon would help spot where in the sky your "spec" was. Even up to close range your plane can be very small in the film viewer (often you are not running full screen), and I've wanted it more than once.

Make it an option, or a toggle, so people can have whatever mode they like.

Isn’t the absents of an icon which uniquely identifies you as the film creator, also identify which spec  is you in the film?   Sorry,  I’m not following or I don’t understand the exact request you are making.

I don't understand what you're saying.

Open up a film and watch it from an external viewpoint, other planes with have the icons above their name to indicate what kind of plane they are and distance, however, your plane will not have one.  If you are reviewing a film from a distance or trying to set up a shot, sometimes you cannot locate your plane because there is no icon above it.

it also means you cant padlock yourself in the film viewer, ie. see yourself from the other planes viewpoint easily.
