Title: iPhone Application
Post by: ttflier on September 23, 2010, 04:51:22 PM
NO - I do not want to try to fly planes in the MA using my iPhone or iPad!!!  My thought is for an iPhone/iPad app that would allow me to log in (if I have an account), look at the maps, check country and base status, chat on the text buffer and maybe use the vox.  I find myself travelling a bit and use an ipad instead of a laptop, I just think it would be cool if I could mapwatch and enjoy the social networking aspect of AH through my iPhone/iPad when I can't get to my PC.  Could be a good sales tool for AH for attracting new customers, maybe having a lite version that will allow you to mapwatch, see the text buffer and listen to the vox (no interactive) even if you don't have an account.  A section showing some 3d detail of all of the planes would be nice too. It would also be great if there was access to the hanger to change skins and convergence for use later when you are online, however I don't think that is possible as that data resides on your local PC.

Although, that might be possible in ~ 10 years.

I think the checking of country and base status is a good idea. Kinda like WWII Online, except on a Iphone/Ipod touch App.

I think the details need to be fleshed out but not a bad one really.  The only thing I don't like is letting non members listen to or read the text buffer.  I can't put my finger on why either.

Iphoners always want the cool apps, what about BB users? We are paying customers and we have feelings too.

I don't trust this guy, who are these friends he wants to talk to? Must be a pretty shady group.

The thing is when iPOD iPAD and iPHONE came out is that we didn't know that to do with it until

KAZAAAAM

new apps appear that most of us can't or didn't even bother to imagine

Why waste time and money on an application only half the community might look at? Why would a stranger be interested in an application which only allows him/her to watch the action unfold in 2D and not allow him/her to participate?

While the idea might be good for advertising purposes, I think you have a higher conversion ratio with costs involved in advertising on the military channel.

<snip>

What's wrong with that?  I fly X-Plane (and X-Carrier) on my iPod now and then.  Seems to me you can HO from an iPhone just as easily as a Phenom.

Did you notice the limited airplanes, and how small the maps on that are? The total amount of data, X-Plane has, is about worth 2 planes and USranger's joust map (I've learned a thing or 2 off of you guys)
