A little while ago I commented on papjohn’s k4 uber alies (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,296119.0.html) post about the length of cuts and what not. I didn't think it proper to critique without offering some of my own flesh. So, here is the re-cut of the first movie I ever put together. Originally I was only trying to get some first person fraps footage that WWhisky could use in one of his films. I strung the collection together, and set it to music, in something that loosely resembled a movie.
I'm currently working on a new project, however, and have hit a wall in principal photography - I need more raw footage – and I have some very specific scenes to film in order to stay with the script as I've written it. So, while I was languishing, contemplating how to get that raw footage, I remembered that old WWI film I had done. I decided to go back and re-cut it, and add a couple of external shots to flesh it out.
My guidelines for the external shots were, it had to be stuff that I already had stock footage of, and I had to be able to collect the fraps scenes in one afternoon. That done I was able to get some decent footage into the can in the allotted time frame. Some of the shots are a bit longer than the 8 seconds I recommended, but I liked how they slowed the pace down a bit so I left them as is. One technical challenge I'm still trying to sort out, how to upload a higher resolution shot to you tube. Hopefully I'll sort that out in short order.
So, without further adieu, here is the re-cut of my first film ever...

Oh bugger! I just realized I mispelled the title! Can I repost on youtube?
And, for those of you who are masochistic, here is that first film ever. Just don't say that I didn't warn you...

Sweet movie, I like your raw TrackIR footage.

Sony does not want me to watch it. Somehow they loose money when I do.
