Somewhat new to the forums, how do i take down or delete a thread i have posted?, im sure it's something quite simlpe im very obviously overlooking.
-
Doesn't generally happen...you can modify the post for a period of time but you can't delete it. Could p.m. Skuzzy and ask him if he will do it for you, not sure if he will delete or lock though.
-
Only administrators have access to deleting threads. You may modify your post to say "Ignore" "." or something in that facility but you can't delete your post/thread.

From what I understand, doing so has such a performance hit on the BBS that it's rarely done even for grievous faults. It's better all around to simply edit the posts but leave the thread itself in existence.

This, deletions are rare, but there is no foul if you PM Skuzzy or "report to moderator/admin" your own thread and request it to be edited/scrubbed/locked.

No threads have been deleted. Threads have been moved to the correct forums, and in cases where the users cannot get a clue about what forum to post in, the redirection is left off. We only do that as a courtesy when people err on occasion, but there are those who deliberately do it and we are less than sympathetic in those cases.
If we did not care what forum people were posting in, then we would have only one forum for everything. Think about how ugly that would be.

I remember a couple threads that suddenly disappeared before.

Skuzzy, I believe he was asking how to delete a thread he started - not that anyone was stating or believes that anything has been deleted.

The answer there is in your own question. Key term "disappear". Just because you can't see them doesn't mean that they aren't here, they're hidden around, somewhere. It's likely a depository of the most vile and disgusting content ever to grace this forum, hidden from the public view, and only the HTC admins get to access and bathe in it.

I asked the same thing a while back, deleting should be allowed since their is some things we post by acting foolishly.

Think of it as a form of punishment, nothing says self-correction like humiliation.
-
Its not that i said anything that i regret or distasteful...its that my question was answered therefore i figured there is no longer any need for this thread....again thanx all who took the time to reply.

But now if someone else comes along and has a similar question, they can simply read through that thread and get it answered.

True, but what if someone else starts up a chat fight and you post back only to defend yourself, and add some nasty detail by not thinking correctly due to the idiotic person who started the whole problem ? is it fair then to take humiliation in that matter ? well....i guess you can just post "Nothing" and ignore.
