A highschool junior on the football teams scores a TD...but he has down syndrome. The two teams agreed to fake the play and let the kid score a TD to let him have his time in the spotlight to do what he loves to do most...play football.

:aok Very nice show of class by both teams
-
It just does not get any better than that.
-
hell i wish they did that to me when i was a fullback in HS :lol
very great show of sportsmanship, like shuffler said, it truely does not get better than that.
-
Great show of sportsmanship. :salute
There is hope for America...in HS football
Huh?

This is the sort of thing that's awesome until people talk about it. The "sporting" people who let it happen get their name in lights and the kid potentially realizes it was a sham.
Don't get me wrong - it's great that this kid got his moment, but keep your damn mouth shut.

Very Cool!!

My sister, god rest her soul, went to a school for children with major handicaps. The hearts of people are bigger than one would think, even in mainstream schools. Given the chance, I think most people would follow this example.
Thank you so much Flipperk for sharing this with us. :salute

That is cool. Glad to see that both teams allowed the dream of a young man to come true. :aok
I cant remember the old saying exactly, but I think it goes something to the effect of: "Even if you win the gold in the Special Olympics, you are still... ... ... ", I cant remember the last bit. Oh well. :headscratch:

this is what happened at our high school down here in Georgetown Texas.

That's cool.

:aok indeed. Goes up top with the incident in 2008: The softball players that carried the opposing player around the bases after she twisted her knee after hitting home-run.

What a class act. I am so proud of those young men.
