When recording scenes out of AH Viewer with FRAPS is it necessary to record it at half speed? Or is it based on the film editing software you are going to use to piece the segments together?

Half speed is good for if you running an above avarage system it stops the lag and frame drop to almost nil. But try it both ways i have always had good sucssess at half speed as this film is filmed at half speed and made on my old computer which doesnt hold a candle up to my new one :)

As BulletVI, it depends on your computer (horsepower) and what Fraps is showing as the recording frame rate. To get some of really good quality, aim for 50+ FPS when recording (when the FPS counter turns to red). If it drops in the 30's or lower, I recommend playing back at 1/2 speed in the film viewer and recording with Fraps. Then in your Video Editing software double the speed of that clip.
So if your computer kind of chugged during a segment and say got 25 FPS (which will look jerky), if you did the trick above, you'd essentially get 50 FPS and avoid the jerky video.

I tried earlier today to do a video and at both full and half speeds my FPS was bouncing off the walls. The half speed seem to work a little better though. Will have to mess around with it some more.

I always recomend slowing to x51 speed for when you double the speed in Windows movie maker you get more feeling of speed in the film as you have efectively now at x1.02 speed ( x102 )
I also found that an average comuter if you viewed it in windows movie maker first it would stutter and jump. But i found that when i published the film eurika i had no stuttering at all exept for some very minor 1 second stuttering on one frame but was so quick that it was barly noticed :)
