I get shot up a whole lot. To make this process more interesting, I thought of a few more damage situations:
1. Big hit to nose/cockpit area could make all or some instruments go dead, shatter or otherwise unreadable.
2. Rudder and aileron hits could tear through control cables, control surfaces would flap around violently for a few minutes before tearing free.
3. Damage to guns? Next time trigger is pulled, round might explode in chamber: in cockpit/cowling mounted guns sending hot metal parts flying around cockpit to maim and disfigure. Maybe tear of a wing or aileron for wing mounted. (Ammo storage compartments opening on being struck?.... belts, loose shells flailing wildly to also maim and disfigure.)
4. Fire....lots more fire/fires.... licking windscreen, obscuring view, melting aluminum.
5. Hits to prop? Broken or missing blades cause horrific vibration due to unbalance... eventually tearing entire engine loose to maim and disfigure.
.....and maybe a few more sounds, like zings, shell casing jingle, hissing of cut pneumatics/fuel lines ......frantic, indiscernible screaming from gun crews and back seaters.
Thanks,

Those would be very cool, especially the first 3.

Like them all, oh btw, all rounds explode in the chamber with the breach , that's how a fire arm works. P38's currently do have gun damage as part of the damage model. My Dad flew P47’s and P51’s and he told me that P47’s had an issue with jamming with pulling G’s. And he had damage once and could not arm his guns in a P51.

Didn't know your dad was in the war, at least I don't recall it before if you posted it (still working on my first coffee) but :salute to your dad for his services
