Title: map of the internet
Post by: Simaril on October 06, 2010, 11:25:21 AM
At least in terms of daily use volume. Clever idea...

I particularly like "Troll Bay" and the "Sea of Opinions"!

Wha't interesting about this is that the guy didn't just make up a funny map. He based the sizes of various territories on the average daily activity as measured over a period of months. The zones are positioned based on relationships between the media, so blogs are bunched together.

Unlike most amusing fake maps, then, this actually is designed to graphically display real information about proportions and relationships.

Obviously came from a serious math/engineering nerd!

xkcd is the only site on the internet I bother to check every other day.  (He posts on Mon, Wed, Fri)  I can't even say that about the BBS.
