Title: Curing RF interference
Post by: qts on June 24, 2000, 11:02:00 AM
How do I cure RF interference?

Apart from my USB stick, I have a standard Suncom + CH HOTAS. Unfortunately, it won't work correctly due to RF interference. This manifests in stick spiking and rudder drift. It also manifests in my sometimes getting radio through the speakers!

I am quite near (approx 1/4 mile from some transmitters).

I had this problem till I went to an external modem. My piece of crap internal  "win" modem appears to have been picking up some CB/HAM transmissions which were very clear and loud too.
I'd hate to say buy another modem as maybe it was a coincidence in my case. See if you can borrow another modem.
On the other hand if you have cable modem or DSL service then make sure the outlet(S) that you plug your computer gear into have a good ground and  the correct polarity .

Interesting. I actually have an external modem - I will *never* use an internal one - and the cables do cross.

Sorry, made no difference. Anyone got any other suggestions?
