Hey guys, built a new rig, and can't get the disk drivers to work with windows 7 64 bit. Any Ideas? original x52, not the pro model.
-
Go to manufacturers website and look for W7 64 bit drivers,
Uninstall current drivers and try W7 stock drivers.
-
no dice. they have the pro version only.
-
should just plug in and you can map the buttons within AH
-
Columbus the x52 is now plug and play with the 64 bit version of windows.
Like it was said in previous post, you can map your controller in AH.
OH BTW just an FYI I would reccomend a powered USB hub with W7, regardless of what you hear.

The problem is the X52 is no longer produced (only the X52 Pro) so they kind of buried the drivers for it.
You can also get the SST software there "SST_Software_64_6_6_6_9.exe"
-
do not use the sst software, or you will be in a world of hurt. they cause way too many problems. powered usb and just plug in your x52 win7 will get the right drivers on its own.

bah I used SST for years without a single problem. I think the biggest issue people have is not learning how to properly program things.
Did you personally experience "way too many problems" with it, or are you just repeating what others have said?

i actually never used it but installed anyway, stick would go crazy couldnt keep calibration, didn't fix itself 'till I uninstalled it. then my x52 was smooth, I was waiting for it to break down like they told me it would, but it never did, so I gave it away. got a ch stick, but i really miss my x52.

I can categorically state there are problems with the SST software. Not everyone will see them. One of the nastier bugs requires you to edit the Windows registry to fix the stick so it can be re-calibrated. When that bug hits you, your stick will never calibrate again, until you edit the registry. This is per Saitek.

:rofl :rofl Talk about a company that gets supported in here, but even Saitek won't take the time to correct it.

Yeah I'm familiar with those issues somewhat (from reading about them), but personally I used the X52 (and pedals) with the SST for years with no problems. I don't even recall ever having to calibrate the stick. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones.
I had some crazy stuff programmed with it too! Always worked perfectly

Something tells me that it's his JOB to know these things ;)
That's why he makes the big bucks...

I have probably forgotten more than I know today. Hang around the computer industry for 30 years and watch what happens to you. Only a brick could avoid not learning something over that time.

Thanks, works perfect (5th Year now for a crappy saitek :D), and it was just plug and play like you said.
I didn't want the saitek software anyway, just the drivers.
-
is there any way to save your stick setting on a flash drive
-
I used to just copy the whole settings folder, and all the flight control settings were in there. I think it saves screen resolution and stuff too which you might have to change if your moving to a new OS.

I know you can with CH Control Manager and also with AHII. With AHII go to C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High\settings or where ever you game is saved and copy the yourstickinfo.jsm files to the flash drive.
Inside of CH Control Manager you can save it to your Flash drive or go here and copy and paste C:\Users\Rich\Documents\CH Control Manager\Maps
Hope this helped
