hi folks,,
first off, i had to use fakename just to get access here. I'm a newbie trying out the 2 weeks free thing. i played the free wb3 for almost all of Aug, and thought i'd check out other online combat sims. i have been an offline flight simmer for years and am now hooked on the whole online thing. Many of you will have shot me down recently. I thank you all for the thrills. My name is VonRocK.
I just have one problem. I lose controll of my joystick in every dogfight.
I run a p3 800, 512 ram, and a ati radeon 64 vivo. the game looks and runs GREAT. I have a set of usb ch pro pedals, and a wingman force 3d joystick.
the problem.. dont move your controlls so fast.. and then i lose all controll of aircraft. I read about this, and tried recallibrating many times. It's very frustrating to be in a dogfight, and lose control of the controls.
is this part of the game, or the way it's supposed to be? or is there something wrong on my end? any help would be apprieciated.
thanks and good shootin'.
V..
p.s. when i get this straightened out, all rooks and knights, whatch out for a big arsed p38 honkin' down on u.

I've been having the same problem since I reinstalled AH..Never had it before but it really is frustrating.I've fiddled with damping and graph but no difference...

increase damping, increase deadband, view the graph in joystick calibration, you likely have a spike or two

With the logitech sticks the rudder input often spikes. Select the rudder (yaw) axis under "joystick" in the game and increase deadband and dampening some.
You can also try newer logitech drivers.

This is something put in the game that is designed to stop a common exploit that used to happen in WB especially. The good old "stick stirring" trick. The game code lookes for too many stick inputs too fast, and when it detects that it locks you out for a few seconds as a deterrent. The downside of this is that if you have a joystick or pedals that have a few problems and are "spikey", they can kick in the "stick stirring" limiter when they spike.
The solution is to clean or replace any faulty equipment, and/or adjust your stick scaling for the axis that is giving you trouble so that the spiking doesn't hurt so bad. Personally the twist rudder control on my sidewinder is quite touchy and prone to spike a bit, so I have to set a higher deadband more damping on that axis to prevent problems and give me better control.
Spend some time in the Joystick section of the Setup on the clipboard. Move your controls around and watch the graphs, looking for spikes or quick movements instead of smooth ones. Between scaling, deadband, and damping, you should be able to tune out all but the worst joystick problems.
