The last few days no website from ient, totalsims or any thing related has been loading. Their phone has been disconnected. They charged my card in Sept, but there's been no communications since.
Has anyone here heard anything?

Forum still seems to work, though some irregularities have been reported. http://forum.totalsims.com/index.php

That's really odd. Until I posted something here *nothing* worked for the last couple of days. Interesting.

And the actual domain totalsims.com and ient.com websites still fail. Judging by the age of the forum posts I am thinking the plug was pulled on warbirds. I wanted to give it a try and see how it compared to the quality of AH. So far the offline mode FM is like flying burnt marshmellows.
I am thinking Warbirds is gone.

I would wait for a few days. Could just be some server trouble.
-
I saw a sticky noting that they were undergoing server changes from 1 Oct to 5 Oct and there are recent (Oct 9) posts on the forums. Not dead yet? It is just a matter of time before Aces High is the last dedicated WW2 air combat mmog. I hope that the remaining market will continue to support Aces High. But it seems those that love history and air combat tactics are fewer in number despite the world's ever increasing population.

The X box is killing online pc games or any pc games for that matter.

That would seem to appear true. My trip into the latest upgraded Super WalMart had a 3 foot section for PC games. The rest of the aisle was console games. Very sad day indeed.
As for AH Vs Wb, AH is truly a superior product. I have flown aircraft in RL and WB is *not* it.

That's been happening for a LONG time, and is not indicative of the PC market as a whole. Online distribution services like Steam are where more and more PC is headed, along with the MMO market (like Aces High...)

Believe me, I'm not trying to hijack this thread; but, since you mentioned Steam, I just have to say this: Steam sucks.
While living on the road for three months, I dropped fifty bucks to download Napoleon Total War, only to get involved in this Steam garbage. When the game wouldn't open, their tech said update the drivers. Duh.
I've just uninstalled the whole mess and consider the $50 a write off and lesson.
Back to your point about Warbirds: I was involved in the free beta, played it on a Commodore 64, 'Confirmed Kill' and played WB till 2003 when I could no longer stand the Axis/Allies setup. Their people who now run Warbirds just dragged it into the gutter. I assume the people who are still there are Mac users who cannot afford a second computer.

Reading through some of the posts it certainly looks like it is or is very close to the end sadly. It ain't my game same as fighter ace but I would still feel bad if it died just like FA a lot of the guys left seem to put their heart and soul into keeping it alive :(
Heres hoping this remaining hardcore will join up to AH same as the FA guys it can only strengthen the game having that kind of player. Another thing people in this game would do well to remember is to be tolerant of the 'squeaker' element of the game, squeakers grow up 'eventually' ;) the future of the genre needs them.

Last I knew, while the arena's were sparsely populated (and most of the "players" reported were actually robot players), there was still a pretty "sound" special events community. It was my first online sim. On the one hand I'd be sad to see it go - on the other hand, I'd view it as something as a mercy killing.

WB has been dead since WB3 was released.

There are many reasons I left WarBirds. Those reasons I will not go into. Like all games you have there are those who seem to make it a personnel crusade to be caustic and irritate others with their shinning personality. WarBirds does have these people to but on a lot smaller scale. It seems to be a more civilized community in the way most interact in the game.

Look at it like this: A tiny villiage can be a slower, more quiet, more pleasent experience as you simply have fewer people and far fewer A-holes to deal with. But, there are reasons why tiny villiages are tiny. Now, look at the big city. Lots of fun and excitement, many more people to meet and interact with. Unfortunately that means more A-holes as well. Its all a percentages game.
Ehh.....take your pick.

It appears to me that sleepy and finn have been left holding the baby without the power to do anything about it, I feel its only a matter of time until it goes belly up. Its unfortunate because its where a lot of us cut our teeth.

Most people in a Warbirds Arena now-a-days is about 20-30 people. Feel like MidWar in AHII, I still have my Warbirds account, I don't know why, just can't leave Warbirds to get shut down like FA.

Has Warbirds ( totalsims.com ) Gone Dead?
How would you tell the difference?
-
:salute Warbirds, may your memories rest in peace in our hearts.

Guys,
Its imperative to embrace new people and any Warbirds converts if we are to prevent the same fate. I know for some, being a chann 200 Tower Jokey or a a-hole to noobs is how you want to speed your 15 bucks, but it is detrimental to the longevity of the game and we should not continue to tolerate it. Basically if you are giving your middle finger to noobs, your giving it to the game in the long run and discouraging new people from playing the game. "noobs" are what keep the vitality of the game and the community alive.
My two cents...
ok flame on....

kabayo doesn't think so...lol.
However WB is much better then Aces High 2, however will never be as good or as great as IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. WB does not have the money or resources like IL-2 does, or the man power to bring the sim up to date.
ack-ack

Errr CK never ran on a C64?

Good Vulcan, so it wasn't just me. I'd thought I'd had every flight sim ever offered on the C64 included the crap from Novalogic.....I thought I'd missed out on something big for a second.

This whole quote reads better, if you just read it in the voice of Hank Hill.

Maybe he's confusing C64 with one of the PC compatible Commodores like the Colt or the 486SX-LTC, though I doubt either of them would have been capable of running the CK beta.

You have nothing to worry about with Warturds going down any time soon, even though it should have flushed itself long before now. Good ole LiarBill has supposedly contracted with some British graphics/software company to upgrade the graphics and supposedly add some new aircraft...I guess in some way putting paint on a turd makes it less like a turd.
Why anyone with the sense of a flea would feel that paying $24/month (it's that much if you want the VIP package) for bad flight models and ancient graphics is worthwhile or fun is beyond me but there are supposedly a lot of people still doing just that. Even with all the things people seem to find wrong here, this is state of the art extreme flight simulation compared to Warturds.

I never paid for a premium account, I was sort of wondering why you would. What dio you get for your extra 10 bucks?

If you check the scores for the Main Arena there have been 528 pilots
so far for this ToD in the Fighter category.
Maybe it is not as dead as it appears.
