I replace my power supply , now my Internet won't connect. Plugged cable into laptop and it works.
When I plug cable into motherboard nada. No little lights go on where the cable plugs in.
Any thoughts?

check bios and make sure its turned on? check device manager for any yellow !?

No yellow bios is on.
Anything else?
If it is the port on the motherboard can I just install a ethernet card?

yes, should be no problem to do so.......
I had a MB once that had 2 onboard LanPorts..... one took a hit when lightning ran in and took out my cable modem, router, microwave, and living room cable box & TV..... I switched over to the other onboard port and it worked fine...but ended up installing an add on PCI network card to be safe, until I had a chance to replace that MB all together....
that MB is still in use , built a pc 4 yrs ago and gave it to oneof my neices, got lucky with it only taking out the one Lan port....
( sorry for rambling )
anyhows.. it is possible that you grounded it out accidently without knowing so maybe......
did you check your control panel / system / hardware / device manager / network adapters / (named adapter ) to see if it had any problems? ( <--- path is if u eunning winXP )
-
the device manager shows the network adapter? uninstall it and reinstall it. see if that does anything. also can try and downloading the newest drivers.
-
yep, columbus mentioned it while I was editing....
that might possibly work to see if it picks it back up, sonic
good luck

Is it an OEM power supply? What happened to the last one? Is it the correct amperage? Lot's of possibilities here to cause failure of the LAN. Power spike from last supply might have killed it.

I keep thinking if it worked before the new PS then when you installed the new PS you missed a connection.
-
Oh, my bad, I read it as you got a new power supply for the laptop. Nevermind then.
Missing the 4 pin power connection on the board?

Thanks guys will check .. And let you know. Haven't flown in awhile I miss he virtual skies.
