Title: Sigs please
Post by: 321BAR on October 10, 2010, 10:27:46 PM
No this is not for the people who wish to sign a petition against HTC :D

Flyers in the MA have their own style, preference of a plane, and some even have signature moves.

List em up guys! i'd love to see some of the answers to this...

P.S. try not to do any of what i call grizzklehumping. we all know he loves his taters :aok

My list would be

P51B and A6M, that i love dancing both of these planes in extreme combat maneuvering at any altitude (the adrenaline of a good 2 on 2 or 4 on 4 combined with crazy flying for both you and the enemy gets me going),
and my sig move is to do a fast barrel roll out of a head on in any plane if possible and to pull over the top and hit my enemy nice and fast (it surprises most enemies who expect me to fire and they sometimes waste ammo on thin air beside my plane and a.k.a. you see this happen, especially in a P51 or A6M, it might just be me :aok )

What's yours guys? love to know

i love a vertical stall in a P38, full flaps until it hangs in the air for a second then cut throttles and the nose just drops straight down while raising flaps, if its done right ( he started his vertical with less energy/speed) you'll be dead 6 on him, like i said its something you want to do when you know you have a energy/speed advantage

I wouldn't call this SIGNATURE as it's just general energy/BnZ tactics, but as opposed to dumped flaps stallfighting this is one of my preferred methods for flying the Corsair, particularly in large or multi-vs. fights where giving up airspeed for flaps is generally inadvisable:

I also like doing a variation of this after an initial front-quarter merge if the opponent stays level to reverse (surprising how often that actually happens, too): Go vertical, pick up the target and roll back down on him with a good bit of inside rudder to haul the nose around.

that doesn't look very bnz'ish to me........looks like a pretty smart way to turn.......

always done this in my 109, also a lot of barrelrolling/snaprolls.

BnZ isn't just hitting and running to 4k before turning around for another pass.

Agreed based on the diagram it's a pretty standard aggressive BnZ tactic which will work a lot better than just zooming into space every pass.

BnZ isn't just hitting and running to 4k before turning around for another pass.

i probably just have the wrong idea then, of bnz. i always thought it was the guy dropping, taking a shot, and going back up, setting up for another pass.

... thats what the diagram shows, just using lag displacement to set up the next pass, so you can maintain E to carry on BnZing (rolling with aileron to track the victim's turn burns far less E than pulling with elevators). essential technique for BnZ esp. in a jug where you cant afford to burn E (cus you cant get it back quickly.)

dont have one myself (although I do use the BRD alot) but theres some Ive noticed others doing. these are real sig moves because if you see it you know exactly who the other guy is.

ghi's neg-G thingy in the iL2 is very effective (and very annoying because once you see it drop below your guns you're committed and you know whats going to happen next ... :furious).

theres also a kind of half-BRD thingy (hard to describe) that some guys in the Few use. they must practice this because eg. Bone and Bruv do it completely identically. nice overshoot technique that doesnt seem to burn much E at all. must remember to film it next time :)

I like climbing to 30K...then I keep my eye out for early war, or damaged aircraft. Then I'll drop in, shoot them in the face, and after I miss...I'll hit the deck and rtb.

On squad channel, we like to jokingly refer to "The Sukov Maneuver" as a mythical quintuple immelman that only sukov can perform.

My sig move is obviously strafing jeeps in perk planes.

109K4. Signature move below, though it has a low sucess rate in the MA's non-1v1-enviornment. I have better examples at home, but this will do.

Spit 9 - "The Krupinski Reversal" (you have to ask him)...I just try to move outa the way.  I'm not much for alt fighting, mostly because I suck at it.  I prefer the deck.  Another one that works great is a negative G push OUT while in a tight flat turn, followed by bringing the wings level and then pulling the stick back into your crotch so that you crush your acorns.  Bogey loses you under his nose, then your plane stalls on top of him and you both die.  Carnage I tell you!

HurriIIC - "Secret Merge" .  It turns....and it shoots well.  Again, the deck please.  Specifically the "Diving Barrel Roll" as many of you have seen me try to get away from you because you have gotten on my 6 in one turn.  This maneuver ensures my quick demise so I can reup with a perk plane and die again, sans the perk points.  I have enjoyed a few of you passing right by in your 51D's as my sissy plane slows down in during the roll.

Ki61.....P40 for a bit of fun...spit 5 for a capped field, although I have been using the LaLa for this lately....As for sig move  :lol :lol :lol :lol rotate the stick in a uniformed manor till the con gets close and then shake the toejame out of it...with some good fortune the con will go by and your nose will happen to be on the con to get a quick 1/10 of a second shot off...If you are having a really good AH day this will amount to a head shot...If not...time have a quick shot in the O'club and up another one.....

My signature move is to approach someone from 5.9k out and approach them nose to nose. When they get 1500 out, I begin firing and hold down the trigger until they have gone past me.

I do similar, except that I quickly attach a rubber band around my trigger to better utilize my hand for the ho.

Mine is to climb out to 15k jump into a fight and only get assists all night. followed by a bunch of goofy lo alt stalls that I cant recover from.
I like to finish with a auger  and a fast trip to the tower. (saves time)

Sheesh shot myself down 4 times tonight !

all in all pretty good times :)  some days im pretty decent at this and other days im a lawn dart.  funny thing is I never know which one I will be on any given day :)

K4, Mossie, and Ki84.

I like to suck BnZers into about the 800 Range. Then I start an flat turn, when they get to about 400 I pull vertical and point my wing pretty much at their nose. After they overshoot I use alot of rudder control and throttle control to get my nose where I can get a pretty sexy snapshot.

i had this nice move i did last night. i was in my sopwith camel, being dogged by a d7. i think it was jolly in the d7. i couldn't shake him. so from somewhere between 50 and 100ft agl, i skidded hard right rudder, opposite aieleron, and let the nose pitch up as i did this...full throttle(all 77hp of it). he went flying right on by me. i then proceeded to fall backwards into the cartoon dirt. i need to get a screen off of that film, as it was tooo friggin funny.  :rofl
i think he said he thought "wow...good move" then he saw me hit the dirt.  :noid

Flying WW1 almost exclusively these days, Camel. The astute Dr1 pilot would recognise my regular 'first sortie of the day' which is to up against a well flown high Dr1,  dodge and weave repeatedly as he pecks from above; end up on the deck with damage and facing a now extremely confident opponent still with an alt advantage. Eventually dragging him to a low alt flat turn fight, I stupidly circle around trying to follow his rapidly departing tail, now hearing hits I finally decide to try something else which temporarily puts my Camel square in his sights (too slow now and shot full of holes).

Having got the initial humiliation out of the way (that didn't hurt too much) I can then proceed with some abandon to roll the dice and let them fall where they may. As for some personal signature, I'm told I can be easily picked out of a milling crowd by the constant repetitive use of the blip switch. Desperate not to tear the wings off, I guess I'm always cutting power to keep it short of Vne.

And cussing. If I had vox, you'd hear alot of cussing.
