Do you members think the radar should be upgraded so it can detect an Enemy Fleet?

No :headscratch: unless that type of radar could detect ships?
-
WW2-era SC metric-wave radar had a range of roughly 4-10 miles (dependant on the height of the ship), less if you were close to land.
WW2-era SG radar (1942 onwards) was centimetric wave, with an approximate range of 15-22 miles, again based on the height of the mast it was attached to. DDs typically had 15-mile range, while CVs and BBs have longer ranges. This is why radar pickets were created (DDRs) to operate on the fringes of the task groups, to extend the radar ranges.
So.... adding SG to the game only gives us an added benefit of a few miles, based on the ranges we're currently engaging with 8" guns.

I think it should be able to display the altitude of cons in a designated sector.

If you want them to go even higher... ;)

I think it should be able to be focused into a narrow beam and cook the incoming cons.

Maybe not show the carriers, but could at least make the base flash. If a flashing base is suppose to represent people around the base seeing enemy airplanes or GVs, I think a fisherman might find the enemy's CV group worthy of telling someone. Not even a fisherman, often it's just someone in the town getting hammered with 8in guns.
**BOOM!**
"Should we call someone about those"
"No, no, no need to call about those"
"Oh look, and airplane"
"THE ENEMY!, SOUND THE ALARM, SCRAMBLE THE PLANES"

Lol, I like your way of thinkin!! A Death Ray!!
The only reason I would want the alt dar is so I don't keep upping at a base for defense, only to find the incoming con is some 15 or 20k set of buffs etc.
I don't care how high they fly, I just wanna know if its even worthwhile to try to up and engage them. :airplane:

You just will find yourself in a position of having even less cons being at an altitude being "worthwhile" to you, if dar is showing altitude :)
And by the way... 15k is only medium altitude for buffs. A 109K goes from takeoff to 15k in under 4 minutes ;)

made me laugh hard
also, I've always wondered why the game is like that. Seeing as 6 ships in obviously more massive than a plane.

A nasty lesson the Snail taught me one day while bombing his base. He got 2 of mine, I oiled his engine, a good laugh for all. :D

 HOW RUDE!!! :furious
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is.....just look at this map for a second, will ya

Notice that no enemy CV's appear on the radar, I just want to know if the radar should be upgraded so it can be able to see even an enemy CV.

Why do you think that?

If someone takes off from a cv, a Dar Bar shows up, no matter where the cv is. On the premise that a Dar Bar represents someone seeing a plane and reporting it, it is very unlikely that someone would see a plane in the middle of the ocean because it would be unlikely that the "reporter" and the plane would be in the same, empty, vastness at the same time.
What should be the case, however, is, as a cv group approaches the shore, it should trigger the base radar and city to flash.
After all, the Doolittle Raiders had to launch early, 200 miles off the coast, (yes,I know, scale), because they were spotted by a fishing boat and feared detection.
You can argue that Japan was still not warned but I would respond that they ignored the obvious. Tokyo was flashing.
Otherwise, no, you shouldn't be able to know where cv's are at all times. Even if someone is in visual range. That's what player communication is for.

How did we find the japanese fleets at Midway and the Marianas?
-
It certainly wasn't radar...
Scout planes (a PBY specifically) found the Midway fleet, and in the Marianas, the Japanese fleet (Ozawa) was spotted by an American submarine.

Mk 2 eyeballs.
But it still got the base to flashing. :lol
