Title: Radar anomaly on Baltic

There was a huge battle raging on at A22 for a long time. (See the call for help on screenshot). But there was no darbar of any kind, even though most of the combat was several k above ground level, up to 15k (bombers). This was the state for at least several minutes on my front end, I thought the battle up there had ended some time ago. Our HQ was up all the time (darbars were visible in other places), and I had played for at least 30 minutes in the arena.

Now shortly after this first screenshot the base dar went back up. And as soon as the enemy dots became visible, the darbar appeared as well:

When the base radar went down again about a minute late, the darbar did not disappear again.

This observation is in line with similar ones I made on other maps, when I suddenly encountered enemy planes at high altitude with no darbar in this or adjacent sector until literally a few moments before visually sighting the planes.

Similar incident with me. I was in Lancs at 11k coming into A26 on the Baltic map. There was NO dar bar. Someone said there was a low 262 coming in from the west. I saw one square in the next sector go away and a small one appear in my sector which would jive with the report. I have a triple screen setup and am looking in the outside view to get lined up with the field. No visible planes. No change on the dar bar. So I do my bombing setups, line up on the hangers and drop my bombs. As I finish the last hanger of this 1st pass, i start hearing pings. I surmised that the 262 climbed up to me. I look behind me and there were 5 prop fighters at various distances making their run on me. I look at the map and the dar bar just changes to a bigger red stripe. I didn't have a chance and was shot down. So from the time that I looked at the map did my bombing and was getting hit was about 30-45 secs. Not only did I not see any icons as I approached the base, but the dar bar didn't increase until i had already been shot at. There's no sense in having radar at all if it's not gonna show anything until I'm already being shot at.

Ive seen bar dar appear when the cons get within icon range of a airplane.  not sure if this is only on my end or country wide. sure would be nice to know if dar bar can only be confirmed by flying players; is this intentional on HTC's part?  I remember reading that dar bar is to account for fictitious but realistic spotters and communication abilities.  HTC whats going on?

I'd say your (& mine) end. I have gotten reports on country channel about huge darbars that didn't show on my map at all, until the cons actually moved into my current sector.

is this intentional on HTC's part?

For now I doubt it, because it's not consistent (sometimes it happens, sometimes it does not, and not to all players).

sure would be a bi-polar reaction on HTC end if they go from completely obliterating any ability to fly undetected , and then turn around and set the arena up so any size force could go to any alt , and not be noticed until an enemy visually spotted them :O, or until the group flew into an active radar :x.  :joystick:
