So AVG free found some random trojan horse yesterday, but I scanned the computer with Kaspersky anti-virus and with malwarebytes and neither found anything.
Is it just hiding from these programs or is AVG just fiddling around? I remember AVG on my old computer used to say that a lot of my files were viruses and nothing ever happened or was affected.
Of course, I didn't run AVG and Kaspersky at the same time, and malwarebytes isn't technically an antivirus.

It depends on whether or not Kaspersky has been updated as frequently as AVG has. If you buy antivirus software from last year or five years ago it will not be as up to date as even a free copy of AVG or Avast that allows you to update daily.
I use Avast and receive an update to its virus database everytime I start up windows...

should be a log file. check it out and see what it says

Could also be a false positive. Different AVs look for a virus in different ways. It could be a program that has virus like activity but not a virus.

AVG is really nothing more than a resource hog these days with a tendency to give out a lot of false positives, though it's not as bad as ZoneAlarm.

E Set Smart Security. :aok
ESet == BloatOverhead && ESet == YouHaveNoControlBeacuseYour_a _StupidComputerUser both resolve to Boolean.True
The last version of ESet I ran had a foot print the size of Godzilla and no methods within itself to limit its "Ram" whoring...
Though I still have an active subscription to their service after trying it...that bugger is off off my system...never to be tried again...
Back to runnng Kaspersky...because I can tell it shut up when I want to...because I can unload its entire Ram footprint AND turn if off...
Kaspersky is the only AV program I have found that has a right click tray option to "Exit" its services...and SHUT IT DOWN COMPLETELY

Thanks gents.
Yes previous usage of AVG has shown a lot ofpositives, yet with the computer functioning well. Qrsu, I must say that the versions I'm running of both Kaspersky and AVG were trial versions as I'm still trying to find my Norton 2010 driver which I misplaced upon moving to a new home.
That being said, I scanned again using Avast trial and still found nothing. The Trojan Horse was labeled though, as something like Trojan Horse- something something - .SEAD or something like that. i.e. it seemed to have a 'legitimate' (for the lack of a better word) viral designation.
