Title: Some Californians may have seen this...
Post by: redman555 on October 21, 2010, 06:50:45 PM
Idk if anyone in cali or other states have seen this....but this crazy loopy walked into gamestop in our mall and said aliens took his sister....and then lit the mall up....nearly 1/3 of the mall is destroyed and fire is still going...a part of the roof above gamestop where the fire started fell in.....The mall is like 2 miles from my house and is literally one of our towns biggest income sources, has like 190 stores and is packed every day...

Luckily no one died or is still in the mall.....

Lol, I live by Quail Glen, across from golf course :)

And the news says that they are going to start going in at 8:00am to take a look inside.  I am guessing over half the mall has smoke damage and easily 1/3 to 1/4 is cooked.

Gene is over there now (Heads the Roseville Building Department)

So far it looks like alot of smoke and water damage to most of the mall, the east wing is cooked.  Should be able to get most of it open before the holidays while a reconstruction of the burned wing goes forward.

One idea that's been tossed around, there are alot of vacant retail sites around the immediate area, shops could relocate and fill some vacancies for the short term.

I'm a director with the contractors association.

Glad to hear nobody was killed.

Just another reason to avoid malls when the zombie apocalypse comes.

That's only about 30 minutes down the road from me, I have a client who has a store at the Galleria, fortunately he's not in the mall itself.

30 Minutes?  That's considered Local lol takes me 40 minutes to get to work each day. Glad your client skirted the fire. Is he part of the closed section or was he able to reopen?

Yes, they caught the guy yesterday.  Personally, I would have sent his stupid arse back inside to get the backpack that supposedly had the bomb.

The stupid part is that he is just going to plead that hes got mental problems, then will go to mental hospital for a few years, and probably be let go....

30 may have been a bit on the optimistic side, probably closer to 40-45 now that a think about it a little more.  Yeah my client and his business is just fine, I gave him a ring earlier today to see how things were going and he's back open today and has actually had a lot of foot traffic come through his store.
