Apparently the Isrealis are working on something
FINALLY, A great alternative
to body scanners at airports . . .
The Israelis are developing
an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with
full-body scanners at the airports. It’s a booth you can step into that will
not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you. They
see this as a win-win for everyone, with none of this crap about racial profiling.
It also would eliminate the costs of a long and expensive trial. Justice
would be swift. Case closed! You're in the airport terminal and you hear
a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system
. . .
"Attention standby passengers. We
now have a seat available on flight number XXXX. Shalom!"

Does it make Box Cutters and plastic guns also explode, or explosives in a suitcase? :noid As always, security comes up with the dumbest ideas ever :rofl

nope. that's what the full body scanners are for.
we as a people seem awfully willing to give up a lot for a false sense of security.

It's all fine and dandy until someone's... I don't know.. tooth filling blows up or something LOL

so does that mean if you have crowns, root canals, or fillings you aren't gonna be allowed to fly?

You lack a sense of humour.

I think Ben Franklin said "Those who would give up personal freedoms for security deserve neither"
Or something along those lines

... with none of this crap about racial profiling.
They don't use racial profiling. They use behavioral profiling, which works extremely well. The numpties over here want everyone to believe anything with "profiling" in it is racial so they can denounce it.
Between the recent commuting pilot who stood up to the TSA and their new "palms in" pat down I'm figuring there are going to be a lot of people screaming for things to change with TSA.

they also profile according to appearance. and don't try to tell me they don't.
when a 6'2 skinny white guy gets pulled off to the side, and they break out the explosives testing crap, and go through his bags, that would say it is so.
that 6'2 skinny white guy was me. long hair(about half way down my back), wearing a long coat, boots, and jeans, with a porn mustache(it grew that way) i used to get stopped all the time.
now that i've got short hair, and wear more "normal" coats? never even draw a second glance.

There's nothing that you can do to stop visual profiling, however, back on topic, it sounds like a great idea. However, what about cleaning out the gore-strewn chamber after an explosion?
I don't mind airport security, but it does seem to be quite crazy nowadays. I don't see why the flight crew isn't armed to the teeth. That would probably end most of the problems with hijacking:
"This is a hijacking! Everybody-" BOOM! the mouth isn't attatched to the head anymore. It only makes sense, especially for the pilot and copilot.

well, bear in mind that visual profiling, can and will include racial profiling. it cannot be helped.
as for security.....it didn't used to be, as i know you know. it serves only to slow down the process, and give us all a false sense of security.

Perhaps, perhaps it serves as a deterrent. Even if we don't catch a single one, and the attacks stop, we've won. In fact, we'd be better off without catching any for a while (and not having any attackers make it on the plane, of course) for as you said, it does slow down the airport.
