Title: Snapshot III, Tank vs. Tank scenario
Post by: RDRedwing on June 23, 2000, 12:18:00 PM
Salute!

Due to popular demand Ghosth and I decided to organize another tank vs. tank scenario in the SEA without any aircraft involved. The changes that came with 1.03 should make it even more fun than the last one.

This time it won't be a simple mass ground battle, A14 will be neutral and both sides' objective will be to capture the field. Of course both sides will attempt to capture the field at the same time, which creates some interesting tactical possibilities for Ghosth and me.

We'll have 2 frames again, one at noon and one at dawn (at night might be too tough).

The scenario will start at 3pm EST this sunday in the SEA.

cya on sunday!

Looking forward to this one guys!
Tanks are going to be tougher to kill with no icons, & smoke rolling around!

Saw, can we get you to prep the arena for us??????

In the first Frame of the Last one, I held the extreme left of the Union Line.  We were able to repulse several Confederate attacks and eventually we performed a "Right Wheel" and bayonet charge and Took Numerous Confederate prisoners.

Oh, sorry, that was Gettysburg.

Although the "Rooks" didn't fair that well, I was the Extreme left, took out a Nit Tank (Nath11?) and then engaged someone else who got my turret.  Was the Last Rook to go down, and couldn't stay in the 2nd Frame.

I hope that more people will listen to my tactics, and we will be able to mount a better flanking movement.

I am looking forward to make it.

I also hope that the 1st Frame can start a little closer to schedule, I had to eat dinner, or take care of a honeydew, which prevented me from attending the 2nd Frame.

Hope there are more folks too!  Was a BLAST!

Any tips on operating a panzer?  I'd love to join in on this, but I can't operate a tank to save my life.  I can drive 'em but ranging and killing something is currently not in the realm of possibility for me...not to mention actually noticing a target that may or may not be ahead of me  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

SOB, other than Friday nights, grab me anytime and we'll go into  the  TA and I'll give  you the "T.M.T.T"  Ten minute Tanker Training....the basics on driving, and shelling.

What Rip said. Don't be discouraged about learnin' to operate 'em. Ten minutes is really all ya need.

Uhhh, have figured out the new site yet, I use "Kentucky windage"..fire a shot, if it goes long, I shorten by 1 section of site, fire again, short, then adjust...sometimes takes a few to get first ack, once  you get first ack, then you can range the rest with only 2 shots pretty much...practice, practice.

How would you guys feel about me taking some snapshots of the event from the air in a "photo recon-outfitted" p-38 or Spit? As was the case in the II, I would load only film and no ord/ammo, and stay well above the action. If it would be too distracting I understand if you say no.

Hehe Goob, weren't you the intrepid aerial photographer who documented the goings on in the last scenario? Based on your ability to dodge the guy who was intent on fraggin' everyone in sight, I'd say you're the man for the job  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Huge problem with that.. tanks are now totally ineffective against ack. Or that but restated as ack destroy tanks within seconds. Had it happen to me 2 out of the 3 times I've taken a tank in. It's bad enough we have 12 ack firing at a tank but the fact that the tank seems to be vulnerable to ack makes it worthless ;(

I'm completely new to tanks still.. but...

Can't ya just stop short of ack and peg 'em off one by one as ya move forward?

edit.... nuther question...

Aint the range on HE's greater than that of ack?
