Title: Obligatory spellcheck
Post by: Yossarian on October 30, 2010, 11:35:34 AM
This is a wish to expand the spell-checker function on the forums.  It would work as follows: if the spell-checker picks up any spelling mistakes in your impending post, then you are not allowed to 'post' that post until said mistakes have been corrected.  The spell-checker's dictionary would need to be expanded to include British English, Australian English (if it exists) and AH English*.

*does not include poor spelling.

You may want to check grammar in your post it is atrocious.  In addition please point to the spelting rule in the forum rules.

This is over the top as alot of proper names get highlighted on my spellcheck <Firefox>
function.  It's easy enough to ignore poor spellers, or poke fun at them instead  :D

Past-tense spelling?  :neener:

In all honesty, I get a kick out of reading posts where the poster has put no thought what-so-ever into spelling.

as Rino said names would be a big issue with this, you can't possibly program every single name.

We can however have a pop-up saying "are you sure you want to post this with spelling mistakes" or something like that.

Can't spell correctly then....

Hi, I too was hit on the head very hard and had to have my brain replaced with a robot brain. I now lack the ability to decipher these complicated word codes unless they are spelled 100% correctly. As an example when somebody says "u smell like cheese", I cannot make the connection between the wording of "u" and "you" as this does not compute to my robot brain. Another great example is "your" and "you're", so when somebody says "your a bender" I now have no choice but to understand this as  you are  possessing "a bender" which blows my mind! Make it stop aces high please!

Sarcasm Off

I kid with you yossarian, I direct this towards the hardcore spelling nazis. You know who u are!
