Title: Different resolution killing my aim
Post by: Belial on October 30, 2010, 02:37:30 PM
I just went from a 19" monitor to a 24" and now everything is too close up in a tank...if I shoot where I use to I hit low.

I am running 1920 by 1080 and I use to run 1280 by 1020?  This appearance of being zoomed in to far is great in a plane but terrible in a tank.

Any easy fixes other than running the 1280 res when tanking?

Increase the field of view on the graphics setup screen.

bigger screen, bigger tank.  they're not really any closer.  You'll get used to it.  and like fls said increase your field of view in the video screen.  that way you can see more while flying an airplane.

Do you use the range marks on the gunsight, or just "put the target where I know the round should hit"?

Well normally in a tank like the t34-85 I can see all the range marks up to 3200 yards full zoomed in.  Now I can only see the lines up to 2000 so I have to zoom out a little to even shoot over 2k.

If I zoom out till the 3200 yard marker is showing on my screen it looks like normal and I can hit fine...but it's slow.

try running in 1360x780 (I think that is it, or something like that.)

I had the same problem as you when I got a bigger monitor. Switching from 1900x1280 to 1360x780 made a huge difference for me.

My 24" native rez is 1920x1200 and I have no issues with tank sights.

Had the same issues when flying and using different monitors. I use three different setups routinely. Use only native resolution to get max detail. I play with field of view as advised but 135 is too much (at least for me, with a 24 inch monitor ). I have experimented with FOV 100-110 or the dials are too hard to read. You may also need to re-adjust all of the airplane views..:-(.

My two cents.  :salute

Thanks for the info guys :salute

It works out that 1600x1200 gets me back to what I'm use to without giving up screen quality.

i got a stupid question, what do you mean by adjusting your field of view? how do i adjust that? are you talking about moving you center position forward and back in the seat?

Field of View (FoV) is where you can see more from the same position.  Like a wide-angle lens for a camera.  With a large enough FoV, you can see 180 degrees side to side.

I believe it's in the video settings on the main screen BEFORE you actually go online.
