Sorry if I haven't been in AvA - screwed up my spine and I can't sit at the computer for more than a few minutes at a time. Ended up in the ER last Tuesday having CTs and MRIs done to my skull and spine...whatta mess (and expensive, too).
Good news, nothing that a chiropractor can't fix (and he has), so I should be back soon.
Just thought I'd let y'all know in case you didn't have anyone else to shoot down!

dam dude.....sorry to hear.......would that have anything to do with you not sounding in such a great mood yesterday?
also......check into a deep tissue massage therapist. they can work wonders. more often than not, if your spine's outta whack, your muscles probably pulled it out.....deep tissue massages are what cured my sciatica...when a doctor wanted to cut me open with no guarantees.
get well dude!!

Thanks guys.
I started waking up with really bad headaches a couple of weeks ago, but was able to knock them down with Tylenol, etc.
Last Tuesday morning, got up to go to work (I do part-time running the office at a local garage to keep busy), sneezed, blacked-out, puked, and pissed myself all before I hit the floor. Woke up about 5 minutes later, couldn't stand up, walk, etc. Thought I'd had a stroke (seriously). Had the worst headache I've ever had. Wife took me to the ER, they doped me and ran all sorts of tests.
Turns out my C2, C4, C5 discs were out of place, but it was a case of left-right-left displacement, so it was actually pinching off my spinal column in 2 different places. Sneezing apparently magnified the problem to the point that it short-circuited things.
They put me in one of those screw-up neck braces and referred me to a local neurologist who in turn looked my at scans and suggested that I try a chiropractor first. So I did, and after 4 visits in 6 days, the headaches are gone.
So....we'll see what happens from here. I have to go back to the neurosurgeon for more scans after the chiropractor finishes this week. I was actually surprised that a surgeon would recommend a chiropractor, and that they're actually working together on fixing this.

"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."
Subluxations are a bee-atch, aren't they?
Good to hear that you are getting better without drugs/surgery.
Even better to know that a neurologist recommended a Chiropractor as a 1st choice instead of cutting you up right away. :aok :aok

Yea, it shocked me to be honest. When the ER doc came in and showed me the scans of my neck, I had visions of screws, plates, and all sorts of airport-security triggers being installed into my spine. Fortunately, I'm in pretty good shape for a 40-something, at least in terms of my internal parts, so I was pretty quick to act on his advice.
The neurologist basically told me that there's some arthritis in the spine but nothing out of the norm or that would warrant surgery. He told me to give the chiropractor a try - if it works, great, if not, you won't be in any worse shape than you are now.
Ironically, I've been sitting here for an hour now and I'm not hurting too bad...so...

Get better J :salute
Hope it doesn't hurt when you laugh, but if that would have happened to me, I would have been driving. The cops would have found me puked, pissy and passed out...(probably wrecked)... and hauled my arse to the drunk tank (no breathillizer needed)
Couldn't imagine the judge reading the incident report and ever believing that I sneezed... and the next thing I saw was a deflated airbag. Dude! I am so glad that your situation has gone much better than it could have. You must have one of these  .

Yea, it was a day of days.
Thanks fellas.

Actually, this just happened to my friend's brother on his way home from work @ 2AM. He was a block from home and had a mild stroke, started doing circles in a someone's yard and eventually wound up rolling (not crashing, per se) into a tree. Someone called the cops and that is exactly how they found him: unresponsive, unable to unlock the doors/roll down the windows, smelling like piss (once they actually broke the window to get him out.
Instead of calling an ambulance right away, they stuffed him into the back of a squad car. Once they finally realized that he was indeed, NOT drunk (after one of the neighbors recognized him and his car) and they got him to the hospital, it was much to late to do anything for him with regard to the stroke. The doctor said that if he had been taken to the hospital sooner, there is a possibility that the effects of the stroke would have been a lot less harmful and debilitating.
The damage is now permanent, he is paralyzed on most of his left side, and confined to a wheelchair.
The hospital was only 2 blocks away...

:furious
That's the only comment I'm going to make at this time.

Wow. You gotta look at it from their point of view as well, though. I had a buddy with MS who was pulled over and given the same treatment. After he was put face down on the hood of the car and handcuffed he filed a lawsuit and won. The money didn't mean much, but it did help his family out in the last few years of his life.
Just learned this morning that my neighbor and best bud has congestive heart failure...and he's younger than me.
This week has been one to forget.

THERE was an accident right up the road last year....dec. 11........on rt. 70 westbound. it was an area where the road went from 4 lanes into 2 lanes on that side.
a customer/friend who was an f-16 pilot(flew 2 tours in afganastan, 1 in iraq) lived right there. he had taken the day off, because he wanted to relax. he was working in his front yard when the guy in the gto had a massive heart attack......the gto crossed 3 lanes of traffic, hit a telephone pole, a tree, and mark. it killed everything it hit.
that would have been their first christmas home together since they were married.

I'm just saying...
If someone is unresponsive and windows have to be broken, there may be more of an issue than intoxication and an ambulance should be called immediately. If an individual is so grossly intoxicated that they are unresponsive, the smell of alcohol should be quite evident once windows are broken.
It is a sad situation that could have been avoided.

Agreed.
But just to lighten things up a bit...
