Title: In case we get the B29...
Post by: Perrine on November 02, 2010, 12:45:40 AM
How about giving it perk pts AND make it available ONLY in LARGE AIRFIELDS?

Personally I have a demented enough sense of humor that I want HTC to put the B-29 in game but have all the runways in the MA bases be too short to actually take off before hitting the trees/hill at the other end of the runway.   :t  :D

heck, i think most 4 engined strategic bombers (think b17, b24, lancaster) should only be available in large airfields

and 2 engined tactical bombers (think ju88, b25, g4m, mosquito) should only be available in large and medium airfields

and single engined tactical bombers (think ju-87 IL-2, TBM etc) should be available in large/medium/small airfields

Heavies would see little to no use then, it's a good idea, but needs some tweaking. My thought is Heavies from Med and up and Med and Light Bombers from any.

Soulyss just because you can't get your P38 off the runway doesn't mean everyone else has to suffer.  ;)

i hope you are right because it only takes 10-12 people to make a ton   :lol  that leaves the rest to vote for real rides  :neener:

What if they put puffy ack on the base that would only target bombers over 20k?

The longest diagonal runways in AH are just under 7,400 ft in length and the sea level take off run of a fully loaded B-29 was 8,000 ft. However I can't see why anyone would load more than 25%-50% fuel in a B-29 in the MA so it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe HTC could just disable higher fuel loads in the B-29 the MA. For scenarios needing full fuel a special airbase could be built fairly easily.

Personally I'd think it even funnier if we got the version of the B-29 with all the turrets removed......  :devil

How in the world can you launch a lancaster off a CV without clipping its wings on the command tower?  I do not think you will be able to do the same on the B-29, wingspan 141 ft 3 in.  lancaster wingspan 102 ft.

You can launch a lanc off the cv in game. Your wheels come very close to the edge of the flatdeck.

You can even rearm on the cv.

Yes it is ummm gamey.

Well you may be right. I have not tried it in a long time.

The last time the 80th did any kind of flight work based around a cv it was landing 163s on it. One who shall remain unnamed actually landed going in the wrong direction.

Who'd a thunk.  :rofl
