Man, that's awful, but come to think of it, this probably just the tip of the iceberg.

When they find the SOB that did this, they should hang him from his balls and let everyone hit him with a baseball bat.

RIP Marine :salute
I hope an arrest, or better yet a trip to the morgue happens very soon for the person who killed him as well as those who took part in the initial confrontation.
My sympathy is with the Marine's wife and family.

The cowards that did this will be hunted down real quick. I am sure there are a lot of people in that area that are in rage of this. Somebody will talk, it never fails.
Something similar like this happen to my college instructor (Mark) this pass weekend in Boston. He saw two guys molesting a women. He walked up to them and question them what was going on. One guy punch him on the right side of his face, but foolishly made a mistake as my instructor is a 2nd degree black belt. The first guy was taken down real quick but the second guy had a wood club or something. Unfortunately, Mark could not reacted fast enough as he took one hit to the left side of his eye socket (sp) of the frontal bone (that is the ridge from side of eye socket to top). He was knocked out, laying up against a building for 30-45 mins before anybody notice him. He may have to get surgery as the area of the bone is fractor.

they should teach people how to defend against a knife wielding opponent in the marines too then they'd truly be gnarly

Bagrat you just proved the old axiom. It's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and confirm it.

I believe Mark Twain brought that axiom forth.

i face palmed, I realize I did not word that in the best way, but don't be so touchy about it you act like people don't die everyday. Simply saying here is a another reason why it would be beneficial to know how to defend against somebody who attacks you with a knife or you could continue not knowing and become another statistic. Ive been threatened by knife wielding persons and wish I'd known how to defend against it too. I don't even know why I try, seriously some of you guys read something and automatically jump to worst conclusions. Even as penguin stated it's probably just the tip of the iceberg, we do not know the entire situation. Really sometimes just because somebody is a marine everybody wants to believe that person is a saint and anything even slightly negative said towards that person is considered being a fool or unamreican. I knew a marine who was a buddy of mine who assaulted a girl by punching her in the face. Yeah he was a veteran marine, but he still did something that was in bad character, maybe this guy did something too. Hell a cousin of mine got into a bar fight with a marine, that guy pulled a knife out and was ready to stab my cousin. If my cousin's friends had not been there too intervene and kick the marine in the head, maybe a member of my family would be dead now. You can bet if the media had found out about this, it would not have been interpreted as two men having a dispute and one of the men pulled out a knife, instead it would more than likely have been read as two thugs attack American hero (which is very biased to lead the reader against any civilian). Anyways it's impossible to know all the factors going through someones head, but continue feeling self righteous if u want.

Truly sad. All my respect given to him and his family. I hope they find the guy that did this and we should all be reminded of the old addage "Sticks and Stones". In no way does that mean he was in the wrong but he lost his life over words.

If I could give up all my belongings just to get a couple swift kicks in at the inhuman slug(s) responsible, I'd be a happy man. A true hero, I cannot put into words my level of anger right now. I love and respect our veterans and if I ever come across one in this situation, I'll fight to the death along side him if need be. (I learned how to fight from a marine, I live around veterans all the time and have for my entire life.) There is absolutely no excuse for this insolence, and I hope it is dealt with quickly, and swiftly. To the man who followed his morals and lost his life in following what was right, a big :salute .
:salute
My most sincere condolences.
