Title: Any other vikings fans POed
Post by: kilo2 on November 02, 2010, 09:27:17 AM
I know I am. Releasing Moss after 4 weeks is a joke. Childress is a joke.

Minnesota Circus continues. Any saints fans have any paper bags laying around?

I watched the MN/NE game and saw what Moss said. It wasn't disrespectful, especially considering he just came from the Pats. What he said was no different than any other player or coach complimenting the other team for playing a good game. Certainly not worth releasing him over it.

Now - let's see who scrambles to pick him up. I can think of a few teams on the cusp who could use another receiver.

For once - I actually don't think Moss did anything wrong.

He was released for giving up on a huge play.

I saw the game and immediately thought he gave up and could of caught that football, all he had to do is continue to run and stick out his hands.

IF he would of caught the football for a TD, Brett Favre would have never been injured...

Did he deserve to get cut? I don't know, but he should have been benched after that play.

Come on...we all see receivers give up on plays. They have this preconceived notion in their heads that if they're not the 1st or 2nd look from the QB that the ball is going somewhere else.

Favre's drama has been over the top. He got his bell rung and needed stitches, big deal.

You release one of the best receivers in the game simply because he gave up on a route? Nonsense.

There's gotta be more going on behind the scenes than we're aware of.

Perhaps the Child(ress) is already cleaning house knowing that next year he'll have a new QB and will have to rebuild in the off-season and free up the almighty-dollar.

Not only that he was interfered with and could have easily lost sight of the ball.

They knew what they were getting with Moss. 3rd round draft pick down the drain.

Reasons Minnesota is 2-5:

-Childress is trying to put the game on Farve instead of relying on AP.
-No Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, or receivers.
-Jared Allen and the D-line is not performing at the same level as last year.
-Chester Taylor was huge for the Vikings, he was probably the best third down back in the league IMO.

Of course these are just my opinions.

Not signing Chester Taylor again was a huge mistake. You can really tell how much of an impact he had.

Moss has been giving up on plays and half running routes(on occasion) his entire career. This is well known. Moss didn't do anything he hasn't always done. The Viking's coaching staff should have been well aware of this before signing him.

So, either the coaching staff somehow didn't know this and they should have... making the coaching staff responsible.  Or, the coaching staff knew about his habits and signed him anyway, then cut him for these very same habits....making the coaching staff responsible.

If they cut Moss for being Moss, why the heck did they sign him in the first place?

There's no room on the short bus for Childress. Wade Phillips takes up three seats.

Nah - we're using them here in Dallas..... :D

Speaking of Dallas - I wonder if they'll pick up Moss...Cowboys have a penchant for stuff like that!

Football  'xperts are saying he's likely to go the Rams or Washington, but with McNabb being benched the Redskins might not be willing to take the chance.

There's a ton of teams that could use him, but Moss probably won't go to a team that's not heading for the playoffs, and there's teams that will simply avoid him like the plague.

So...Buffalo, Washington, St. Louis, Saints, Colts, maybe even the Jets?

Who knows.

I'd say Tampa Bay or St Louis...

They are the only teams that lack the real deep threat that could really use him right now.

I have followed Moss since high school. He has been giving up on plays where he wasn't a primary receiveer since high school.  When he was a Marshall if it was a run play he would take one step off the line and just stand there, very rarely would he even attempt a block.  He's a confirmed head case who screwed up free rides to both Notre Dame and Florida State because of his attitude and off the field runins with the Charleston WV police.  I have no pity for him, hope no one picks him up.  One word describes him perfectly....LAZY.

I wouldnt be surprised to see him a Pat again. He did seem to give up on that play, maybe he didnt see it who knows, but Favre was gonna be hurt on that play whether he caught it or not.

Boo hoo Favre got hurt.

They make so many millions of dollars they shouldn't complain about anything.

I've been hurt before, but I wasn't getting paid millions of dollars while I was doing it.

Some of my dads friends played, a lot of that money goes to medical bills. He played years ago so the money wasn't crazy and the benefits are a joke also. They are starting to learn a bunch about head injuries from the guys they played with. Some of them can barely operate and make it through the day with out someone with them.

Easy to say that if you don't know or see them in person, seeing Earl Campbell now is kind of shocking.

That's the thing though Filth, he was hurt on the following play. So if Moss catches it... TouchDown and they line up for the extra point or Two-point Conversion (which they did do once Tahi scored).

Moss to the Titans, and I have a feeling that Childress will be headed to the unemployment line soon.

He lobbied (read begged) sooo hard to get Favre back, and now that prima donna is calling his own plays and basically showing complete disrespect for his head coach.

This is what happens when a team is stacked with d-bags. Total implosion. I love it.

Yes thats right it was the previous play Nef. I remember saying that to my wife at the time now. Ya that was costly. I was thinking it was the same play.

I hope that we all do get to find out the exact reasons that Moss was let go, I find it hard to believe that they would let him go just because he gave up on a play, especially when they gave up a 3rd round draft pick to get him, they just basically gave that away now, there has to be more going on behind the scenes that where just not seeing.

And thank you Vikings for Chester Taylor, were loving him here in Chicago, we just need to start getting him even more involved on the field. :aok

The reason the Vikings were so successful last yea is because Favre started calling his own plays. Childress has an eye for talent. There is no question about that.
But he is an offensive idiot when it comes to play calling. As I've been saying here for years now. "There is a reason why he wasnt allowed to  call plays when he was the offensive coordinator with the Eagles" Childress has definitely been calling more of his own plays this year.

This year The Vikes are missing Taylor as someone mentioned.Peterson, as good as he is with the ball, is still not great at pass protection, And picking up the blitz specifically. that is why your seeing more of Toby Gearhart on third down lately.

And Rice is out. With him the deep threat. Berrian as I've been telling my son since we've gotten him. Seems more interested in trying to draw PI penalties instead of catching the ball. so defenses dont take him too seriously.

Enter Moss. With Moss the deep threat had returned. I've been able to see all but one Vikes game this year. Since Moss's arrival the Vikes offense has been more productive and you could see improvement week by week even in the losses. And BTW It was the blown call by the official on Visanthe Shiancoe's Touchdown catch that cost the Vikings a Win at Green bay. Neither,Childress , Favre, Nor the Vikings D lost that game for the Vikings. The Replay officials lost that game for the Vikings on one of the worst blown calls I've ever seen.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/25/league-admits-to-two-touchdown-errors-in-sunday-night-game/
Tis my understanding that the officials got reamed out by the league for that call and the equally horrid call that was blown that week in the Steelers/Dolphins game

But enough on that. the Vikes offense was showing definite signs of improvement. Moss wasnt released because of taking plays off. everyone knew what they were getting with Moss. But he presented a danger that defences had to account for. That why he was brought in.
But because he is an immature arse.
Aside from being critical of Childress during a press conference which he was probably right in his opinion. But in the name of being a team player shoulda kept his mouth shut. He also acted like a complete jerk the previous Friday when he verbally abused caterers

"Moss screamed at the co-owner of Tinucci's Restaurant and Catering in Woodbury and Newport in the locker room after practice because he apparently didn't like the way the buffet looked.

"[Moss] came walking up," Gus Tinucci said. "There were a couple of guys that were in line. I was carving some meat for a guy and all of a sudden I heard all this screaming and I was like, 'Are you kidding me?' I knew who it was immediately. I looked up and there he was."

Tinucci said Moss used two profane words in a sentence where the ex-Vikings receiver said he wouldn't feed the food to his dog.

"I was in shock," Tinucci said. "I couldn't believe it. It was quiet in there."

The Vikings cater lunch for their players in the locker room every Friday after practice. Tinucci said his family's restaurant has catered for the Vikings a handful of times in recent years in part because they became friends with former center Matt Birk.

Tinucci said his buffet included ribs, chicken, a round of beef carving station, pasta, vegetables and dessert.

"It looked good, like we always do," he said. "I don't know if he was starving for attention or what. But nobody laughed, I can guarantee you that."

Tinucci said he heard one player tell Moss to shut up. He wasn't sure which player. A veteran player sent the Star Tribune a text message Tuesday that described Moss' outburst as "bad." Tinucci said two Vikings employees approached him afterward and apologized."[/b]

http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/moss-verbally-abused-caterers--428511.html

Seems some people just never grow up.

What the Vikings need to do is either a Steinbrenner move and either promote childress to the front office (Like I said. he can evaluate talent) Or fire him completely.
He is inept as an NFL head coach. And I've been saying so here on the forums for years

All that being said. Its a shame Moss couldnt grow up and keep his mouth shut.

Can you imagine how dangerous the Vikes offense would be with the lineup of Rice,Peterson,Harven,Shiancoe,Kleinsasser, AND Moss.

Over the past 4 years I've had a little over half a million dollars in medical bills.  I sure
wish I'd seen the option to pay more to make it hurt less.  I choose to not let it get me down,
but I sure don't feel comfortable telling someone else they shouldn't hurt due to their paycheck.

Where exactly have you seen Favre complain about being hurt?
That dudes played and and continues to play hurt or not. Probobly even when he personally would be better off from a long term physical aspect of it to not play.

Nobody can question Favre playing through pain and injury

He's definitely played through pain and injury - no question about it.

Sadly though, what Favre will end up being remembered for will be the last 3-4 years of his career, the ordeal with the Packers, retire-no-wait-well-maybe-nah, crying on TV, texting his winky to some honey on the Jets, and then the back-and-forth soap opera with the Vikings.

Favre could have been held in the same esteem as Joe Montana, Steve Young, Johnny Unitas, (etc.), if he'd made his mind, retired, and gotten his gold Hall-of-Fame jacket.

When I moved to Wisconsin in 2005, Brett was a demi-god up here. It didn't matter what he did, he was Brett. People whined because he forced passes and threw INTs, but they'd reverse themselves on the next possession when he tossed some amazing 50-yard pass to a receiver for a TD. Green Bay fans (and they're as rabid as Yankees, Red Sox, Raiders, Celtics, fans) were sympathetic when he left to go to the Jets, blaming it on the Packers front office. But when he went to the Vikings, he became reviled.

I'm 30 minutes from Lambeau. I'm not a Packers fan, I'm a NYer, but its pretty obvious to anyone who follows football.
