Title: T28E1
Post by: Rino on November 04, 2010, 12:13:14 PM
     Not a big wish, just a fun diversion.  It's basically an M-3 with a 37mm cannon and 2 50
caliber machine guns.

If it improves the visibility beyond the M16 I'm all for it. Field of view in the M16 is horrible.

I really wish HTC would remodel the current M3/M16 and bring forth about 5 or so of the different models used in WWII.  There were M3's used in anti-tank roles(76mmAP), infantry support roles (105mmHE) , supply (AH's current M3), anti-aircraft (AH's current M16), etc etc.

One would like to believe that it would be one of the easiest things to model for the game: the only real difference between the models were the cargo bay area and the corresponding weapons platform (or none).  It would be the easiest way to add variety to the sim/game.  BAM!  We have 5 new gv's to tinker with.   :)

...infantry support roles (105mmHE)...

The 105 would be pretty sweet for a town-buster.

Nope.  I like to take the M-16 out more often than the Wirb or Ost.

This would be a SWEET addition to play with. :x +1 for the T28E1.  The question is, Shielded or unshielded?  Not that it's really going to matter all that much. :lol

I'd prefer the M-15 version, but either would be nice.   :aok

I take out the M-16 more often, now, I love it, but I just can't get over the poor visibility, it is worse than the Osti. :uhoh

BAR321 obviously forgot to bring this up, but M-18.

Halftrack crew "in the bucket" near Cherbourg, France.
One foot pedal fired the .50 caliber machine guns; another the 37mm gun.

The 105 would be pretty sweet for a town-buster.

Not really, the T19 105mm HMC only carried 8 rounds without an ammo carrier.  Worthy to note, they also used AP rounds so they should have the ordnance option of limited AP rounds.

I couldn't find a picture of of it but the USMC used a variant of the T12/M3 the US Army used, the T12 HMC that was configured either with a 75mm or 105mm pack howitzer.  Not sure how many rounds it carried when in the 105mm configuration but with the 75mm pack howitzer it would be no more effective than the LVT-4 with the 75mm pack howitzer we currently have.

Yep, he made the mistake of asking what Persona Non Grata meant and it was felt by HTC that it would be easier to show him than to try and take the time to explain it to him slowly.

Was going to start a new thread until I found this one.
A vehicle worth having more of them made than the Ostwind & most likely Wirbelwinds as well. With an impressive kill to death to boot. :aok

Telescopic sights also until later due to fogging they changed to a conventional sight.
Has a long service history.
I am not sure on the early war time frames of AHII it would at least cover mid & late wars. If it can qualify for early war would be far more deadlier than the current M16.

Going to have to find some more on the Australian made M15 specials mentioned in the above link.
One way to get some Australian made stuff in to AHII. :aok

Why? We need something else with 20mm's for MW before another 37mm gun, which is harder to use for most. SdKfz 251/15 would be better, and the /21 would be fantastic, if its EW (not entirely sure)

Allied.

So allies with their ew vehicle for the MA's and scenarios need a MW vehicle, while the axis get nothing pre 1944?

In the MA's, nationality is irrelevant. And I'm the special events, I'd say giving the Germans some ew and mw AA that isn't OP as hell would do more to balance things than giving the allies a crappier ostwind.

Crappier Ostwind?
Did you read the link?
They had a better kill to death than the Ostwind.
Not to mention a 60mph AAA gun.
I do agree with some other early war & mid war AAA German platforms though.
Ostwind & Wirbelwind both are in mid war now what more would you need though?

It also wasn't operating against air superiority, and later air supremacy. It also had a more ew and mw aircraft to shoot at. It was shooting at stukas and the like, for Gods sake. It's KTD had more to do with circumstances than inherent quality.

And it's 66mph and .50'sare damn near the only advantages. 37mm is just too hard for most to use reliably. Just look at the Ostwind vs the Wirbelwind usage.

Maybe give it a trailer and if you hit it you loose the extra ammo....

I have more luck with the Ostwind myself.
Remember this in real life the Germans changed to the Ostwind because it was a better killer than the Wirbelwind. Sounds like you just need to practice more with the 37MM. :aok

I'm better in the ostwind as well. But the fact is that most people are not.
