I have made the decision to stop playing Aces High.I haven't been putting in any stick time to speak of,and I knew in my heart that the time had come.I'm retired,and the government hasn't seen fit to give us retirees a C.O.L.A.,but the cost of living keeps rising.I could no longer continue to justify several monthly bills,so I had to make the cut, so I could continue to pay the food,medical,insurance,and other bills that have increased.
I would like to say thanks for all the great years of playing Air Warrior and later Aces High,and the friends and squad mates I was fortunate enough to fly with.The Nightmares in Air Warrior and Aces High for a short while.The 475th,the 39th,and my last squadron the 71st R.A.F.They were all a great bunch,and I will always fondly remember them all.I will be losing a great wing man in B2B.He is a wonderful person,and a credit to the game.
I know that through the years I have had my share of arguments with other players.I regret any remarks I may have said,and I apologize to any involved players.I congratulate Hitech and the nice simulation they have created,and I wish them well in their business in the coming years.

Ya gotta do what you gotta do. Coming off a long stint of unemployment I totally understand. If the economy ever rebounds and you can, look up AH again!

Sorry to hear IronDog, used to fly against BFD, Nightmare in AW days, were good times.
Hopefully in time things will change and you'll be able to take to the
Skies again.

It's sad to see those that have retired struggling after working hard all thier lives. The government Unions (Taxpayer Funded) still get thier pay increased every year. The private sector hasn't seen pay increases for 5 years and they wonder why no one has money to spend.
Over 43 million people in America now recieve food stamps. We all need to vote against the Big Bloated US Government.

Sorry to see you go. I am also a federal retiree and a disabled vet. It is hard to live off of what they give us, but remember you have to give yourself an outlet to "escape" from day to day
worries. It's a tough economy for us all, try not to stress much on stuff. Stress only causes health problems. AH is a great outlet to unwind and enjoy the many friends here, as you know.
IMO it's hard to find (if you can) a community such as ours.

Sorry to hear about this ID. I wish Uncle San had a program for crusty ol' leathernecks to keep flying. It has been an honor to call you a squad mate and a privilege to have flown with you through the years. I hope that you can come back when things get better.

With any luck you'll be back. Perhaps there is no money at all for recreational activities, but if there is, Cable TV, renting movies etc, Think about the value of AH in terms of dollars per hours of fun. 2 hours of flying per night is 60 hours of fun a month for $15.00. That's 25 cents an hour! There are very few things that are as fun as AH and provide that kind of value for the dollar. Good luck. :salute

Sorry to see ya leave us Dobey / Irondog. Since you've been in the squad you have brought alot to the squad and the time we've flown together has been truly a treat. We'll miss you in the squad with your humor and wit...If you ever see fit to strap into the virtual cockpit again want you to know we'll keep your rides polished up and ready to go.

:salute Dave, you have always been a class act both in the game and on a personal level and I'm sincerely saddened by your decision to leave. Who would have thought that two old-timers like us would ply the virtual sky's together and and find a similar level of camaraderie that we both knew years ago in the service, you as a Marine and me in the Army. It was fun sharing those long ago memories with you. In the game, it was always apparent that you unselfishly worried more about my six than your own everytime we winged. It didn't take me long for me to realize that you're really the same person here as you were 45+ years ago as a grunt Marine in Vietnam. Your character and loyalty always dictated that you put the welfare of others before your own. It amazes me how a silly game like this can bring out the best and worst in people. Well, my friend, it has always brought out the best in you. Let's stay in touch and godspeed to you and your family. :salute

Heres hoping that things turn around for you, and that you will be able to return to the skies. As Redtop and the other squaddies have said, if you do, your place will always be open in 71 RAF.

Dobey (or IronDog as I first knew you), I can't really add anything more that hasn't already been said. I hope to see ya back some day soon, and have a feeling the itch will come creeping back eventually. You're a first class individual and I for one can say it was an honor to wing with you. The squad will miss ya, as will all of us. Come back soon, and it ya don't, I raise a glass to you sir, may the sun always shine on ya! :cheers:
