Title: tcp lost/disco
Post by: Sho0oterMcGavin on November 07, 2010, 05:23:15 PM
just had to post since i see noone has. last night right after daylight savings this started. tcp lost then disco. one time was immediate crash.

when i go to log back in, it doesnt show a ping for the servers, thus you cant join; brings you back to login. the only way to get in the server is if ping shows. sometimes when i get in, it discos after just a few minutes.

i tried other arenas, cant log in them either. i noticed last night when this started, there was 270 in orange and 30 people got dropped with me. lots of other people having this problem, any explainations?

- SMcGavin

p.s. sometimes when you do get in you cant move to another base, forcing you to battle it out for arena cap

wireless Internet? your computer has issues? Maybe you are running lots of other things in the background? Most likely not HTC's fault

You can't compare "any other program", particularly a webbrowser, with an application like AH which is depending on a steady stream of data.

It may seem "all fine" on your side, but that stream may still be messed up virtually anywhere on it's way.

When persistent problems appear, you should run a pingplot.

If it was the AH server, the BBS would probably brought down to it's knees by the storm of complaints ;)

If it's "only" a sizeable part of the players that are getting trouble sat the same time, it's most probably one important node out there that is making trouble (from experience, my 1st bet would aways be Level3 ;) )

Well as long as you refuse to look into your own computer and run a ping plotter to the server YOU will continue to have problems while the REST OF US are playing the game. The choice is yours. Get pingplotter (its a free download) and ping the servers and post the results. Or continue to disco.

If your time/date is wrong, you may have had an invalid security certificate problem.   Just a guess, but it makes sense.

I do not think this is a AH issue.  Last night I flew and got discoed.  I did a ping plot and found the signal died somewhere in New York.  Crazy New Yorkers always hogging the internet to themselves...Sheesh, share a little  :furious :rofl

I've yet to see any other post from anyone having this issue.

Your assumption that many are having this problem may be incorrect.

hey all thanks again for the people who helped. ok for those who dont know, i have used pingplotter before and my free trial is up. i had a more serious disco problem about a year ago, and it was due to my pc overheating, only in AH tho.
Lusche, when i did pingplot while back was a level3 problem, im not famaliar with technical networking so dont call me out on anything, i just know that my ISP refused to admit its their server failing, even had a tech check the house.
Shuffler, if you didnt read all posts, dont hijack. i didnt ask who is having problems, i asked if there is any possible solutions. i dont need to see people posting in here to know how many others are experiencing it, i seen with my own eyes MA clear out simultaneously. i talked to a few in blue/orange and they also have confirmed. consider yourself lucky   :]

problem has currently stopped, thanks for all suggestions see yall online

It could just be one night where ur internet was acting goofy or the connection was goofy for some reason, who knows.  Bottom line is, you shouldn't worry about it and try to come up with an explanation if it was just a one time thing.  Chalk if up to the mysteries of the intardnet.  If it continues to occur though, then looking into it seems more valid.

Your correct, you did not ask if there were others, you stated "that many others had the same issue". I commented on that from your original post. That is definitely not a hijack.

I think you should focus on the problem as it actually happened and not on some assumed issue that may be on AH's side. I think you will get to the bottom of the problem and get it fixed sooner. If it is actually an on-going problem. It also might have just been a fluke.

I'll refrain from making any more suggestions that may help you. I'd hate for you to misunderstand anything else I may offer.

A few months back I was running into problems maintaining a connection..............  At first a release/renew ipconfig would fix it, then it came down to restarting the box.  Are you a "sleeper" or a "shutdown" kind of person?  Since I have stopped putting her to sleep and only shutdown I haven't had issue.  (I never figured out what my local issue is though)

again thanks everyone. ok ive never had a internet connection issue with any game i play on this new pc. and since june, AH has been playing fine, not 1 disco. this started last night, and alot of people are also experiencing it.

I had to be on wireless for one week a while back and Bighorn is still making fun of me.  Buy a cable.  You will discover a different game.
Also, if you are using the ATT wireless usb thingie, it no workie very well.

It's most likely the Internet farting again, it's a rather gaseous and prone to fits of flatulence, of which I was a victim of last night.  I had a tough time for a few hours staying connected, got discoed a few times and lots of warping around.  There was a bad hop between me and HTC and after a few hours settled down to normal.

Just because you have the latest and greatest PC ever made, it doesn't mean your Internet connection is going to match. You can have one of the IBM super computers and if the Interent is farting you're going to have lag.  However, you can help minimize things or eliminate them entirely by closing down those unnecessary services and processes that connect to the Internet or ones that are unnecessary in general.  Also, make sure that you aren't running any other programs in the backround like an anti-virus program.

Wireless connections, while passable, aren't all that well suited for games such as Aces High or even multi-player FPS games as you tend to lose more packets due to the nature of the connection that you would on a land line.

Next time you have a series of discos in a night, run a program like Ping Plotter and ping the AH servers to check to see if there are any bad hops along the way to the servers.  This can be of great help when trying to diagnose connection related issues.

ack-ack

just a hint.. even though the trial is up, and the window pops up asking you to purchase, it will still work normally, just have to wait like 5-10 seconds.
