My wish is pby's (catalina's) that can be launched from ports, and have teh .30's an .50's w/ a payload of around 4000lbs. just think it would be really cool and something way different. maybe a zero floatplane.
what do ya'll think?

I agree! It would spice the game up and start. "the aces high float plane era"
-
Very few Catalina's carried ord until later in the war after their role as a torpedo bomber was revoked and then it was primarily a night bomber. Since we have no nights here......................... ..............
But.... +1 for the PBY.

Not really sure what kind of plane it is. :headscratch:

Blackburn Iris

+1 for the Catalina, it would be really fun to have floatplanes in Aces high.
Cool picture by the way :aok

It would be cool to use them as troop carriers when troops are not available from a ground base.
If you had a fleet nearby or even not so nearby, land the plane within a certain radius of the fleet somewhat like the re-arm pad and load troops for a base capture.
Fly in under radar and let them off on the shore of the offending base.

It is an ugly plane. That is what kind it is. :D

i second this
and it would probably take a lot of time to code something that can float and fly, so +1 to the pby but ONLY AFTER all other a/c are updated to AHII standards
-
+1 but wouldnt we have to add a bomber hangar or two at the ports? :salute
-
Nah--park em in the water next to the docks. (see above picture of ugly plane)

Soo make it a late war plane with torpedos used to find enemy fleets
-
i wouldnt mind the black cat... mainly for AvA or SEA but still allowed for flying for fun in the MAs
-
I agree, there should be some floatplanes in aces high like the PBY-5 Catalina!!
-
for goons & supplies, rescue work & give points for rescuing a team-mate....? :airplane:

Having the H8K2 'Emily', PBY-5 Catalina and Sunderland Mk III available at the ports would be a nice feature.

not needed anymore. you can see the round traces from the ship's guns from a million miles away. they make a nice "here's the ship" sign. as for using them to sink cv's, well look at the thread of complaining about ack being too accurate. they wont survive.

I have no idea what you are babbling about. What does having those aircraft at the ports have to do with round traces from the fleets?
The H8K2, for example, would act as a fine heavy bomber in AH, having nothing to do with fleets of any kind.

we talking about spotter planes and some bombers to sink cv's right? because i see few people to none upping a "heavy bomber" (h8k2) from a port to bomb another base. perhaps a near vh, but to bomb another base?, it only carries either two torpedoes or 1 1k bomb. and if my research is correct only 112 were built.
so most likely it is not a "fine" heavy bomber.

H8K2's loadout options were eight 250kg bombs or two 1600kg bombs or two torpedoes.
Well protected with five 20mm cannons and three 7.7mm machine guns.

And hkw many were built?

Not many, but they saw far heavier use than quite a few aircraft already in Aces High, such as the Ar234, C.205, F4U-1C, F4U-4, Me163, Me262, P-47M and Ta152.
