Title: Meeting Mr. Average!
Post by: Lusche on November 10, 2010, 04:21:27 AM
Meet Mr. Average of LWTour 129!   :airplane:

(This topic is a waste product of my upcoming AH stats 2010... only 2 months to go)

This is Mr. Average:

He spent 10.5h in fighter mode, 4h in attack mode, 3.8h in bombers and 4.3 hours in GVs, for a total of 22.6 hours.
Of course only he knows how much additional time he was wasting in the tower, in the lobby or logging in & out trying to get into a locked LWO...  :noid

The average duration of a fighter sortie was 9 minutes, an attack sortie averaged at almost 10 minutes but the vehicle sorties lasted only just under 6 minutes. If we assume a full formation at every bomber mission, the average sortie duration would have been 19 minutes.

He got 53 kills in fighter & attack mode and got credit for 3 kills in bombers and 26 kills in vehicles. About 20 more kills did never count, because he was in wrong scoring mode, used a manned ack or was already dangling in a chute

He discoed once every 10 hours of playing time, but of course we do not know if for regular connection troubles or by hitting alt-f4...

Mr. Average captured 0.31 bases by GV (M3, SdKfz, Jeep) and 0.12 bases by goon.

He landed only 1 in 3 fighter sorties, and got a kill only in every other sortie - partly because only 3.4% of his bullets hit the target. That shows that getting a mere 2-kills landing message actually IS an accomplishment for him.

Most players are like him: A acquiescent target for a selected few of AH "vets". If we combine fighter & attack mode kills & deaths into a single stat (so that "top fighter K/D" pilots with only 1% of their sorties do not skew the statistic) we find:
Only 26% of all players active during a tour reached a K/D of 1
Less than 10% managed to kill at least 2 enemies for every death of their own. A K/D of 5 was reached only by about 1% and a mere 0.14% went to K/D 10 and beyond.

All categories combined, 10% of the players had made more than 50% of all kills. About 90 of them provided by our averaging friend. :uhoh

Mr. Average... you never make it to the front page, nobody praises your 1337 skill on the bulletin board, and more often than not you get ridiculed by us AH snobs for your alleged lack of skill...

But today, we salute you!  :salute

(This is based on all "active" players in tour 129. An active player is one that has killed or has been killed at least once. Someone who downloaded AH, spawned a P-51 but didn't manage to get airborne is not factored in. In fact, I will never know that he was there at all.)

np drop in to the WW1 arena, grab yourself a Dr1 and PRESTO become an instant ace... K/D 5:1 guaranteed (it's stamped on the underside of the tailplane). Just be sure to go after F2b's, Camels and DVII's (in that order) and RUN if you see another Dr1, especially Ehre or iwlf  :bolt:

I spent a lot of time resupplying bases and putting out GV supplies when needed. I also do a lot of ords poking. Very few people do theses things because of rank and points. I will not engage in a fight while killing ords especially if ords are down at our base. This way I can rearm my P-51D and continue my poking mission. So taunting me about running will do you no good as I will stay on mission. My frame rate is so low it is hard to dog fight anyway. I am a tanker not a hot shot pilot to the most part.

This is not what most folk do in the game. It is not glamorous and at the end of the tour I am Mr Below average. But all the guys getting bomb tarded at a spawn are always happy to hear I got the ords or glad to have supplies I bring them. All this kills my score but it is things that need done and I do it. As always Lusche posts interesting information for us. Thanks for you time Sir <S>.

:aok  same here. It's how I enjoy playing the game.  I would much rather destroy the hangars at a nearby nmy airfield that has fighters upping from it with the only purpose of vulching one of my country's airfields, or resupplying gv's or airfileds.  It doesn't get me anywhere close to making the front page of scores but people really seem to appreciate it in game when my goon shows up with supplies.

with an average of 10 to 9 minutes  per fighter sortie, I guess the Mr. Average isn't your average BnZ run dweeb, who refuses to turn back or even engage without 20 minutes of climbing out. You hide behind the scenes with your average score never trash talking after a death and probably have at least 4 random numbers in your name. Your name is as average as your game play making you soon to be forgotten even after your name is seen in the message bar "you shot down bill0210 #3". After a few hours of getting ganged or ran from, the relief running across mr. average who gladly engaged in a fight with mediocre at best skills is a wonderful turn of events not to mention a slight moral boost, you are the lifeblood of this game ensuring us that it has not been entirely over ran by timid score horz! This being said we salute you mr.average! :salute

Lusch,

Can you work up any stats on why the 10% are in this thread trying to spin their abysmal record on stopping Mr. Average from successfully porking thier resources 90% of the time?

After all, being the best of the best must mean they are better evolved and endowed between the ears to succeed????

But, the real world wide WW2 10% who survived, most went on to become Generals, CEO's, Congressmen, Presidents, State Leaders, National Icons of Humanity, humble philanthropists. None of them used their accomplishment as a license to publicly denegrate anyone else not a member of the 10%.

I guess none of our 10% are the real 10% outside of this cartoon day care center. Once you have been in the company of those men you know they act themselves no matter what they are particapating in.

Any comment past this point by OUR 10% in this thread self validates they are not the real 10% at much outside of the Aces High or the AH Forums login screens.

Based on the Pareto Principle our 10% by their attiudes towards Mr. Average in this thread might be contributing 80% to why HTC has problems keeping average players coming back. Even Grizz realised the game needs happy Mr. Average. He is no longer addicted to socially denegrating the none 10% to get his crusty bunny slipper erect.

Mr. Average is the only reason wars get won by his tireless efforts, sacrafices and deaths in the tens of thousands. We only know the faces of war by the parades given to the lucky few of the 10% who survived and were chosen for the PR appeal to be made into national hero's. None of those 10% spent inordinant amounts of time self PRing how superior they were to the rest of their communities.

Joke- noun, verb, joked, jok·ing.
something that is amusing or ridiculous, esp. because of being ludicrously inadequate or a sham; a thing, situation, or person laughed at rather than taken seriously; farce: Their pretense of generosity is a joke. An officer with no ability to command is a joke.

Lighten up Francis.

I can speak only for myself.
While I played, I was part of that top 10% in game. In real life, I am among the bottom 10% so to speak.

And that's what makes this game so addicting... the illusion of grandezza  :uhoh

Lusch,

You never used it as a license to be abusive to make your crusty fuzzy bunny slipper get erect.

That's why you are a respected member of the community. The proof that life is about change came with Grizz admitting this game needs Happy Mr. Averages or he would have no game to be a part of. The real deal can see more than his own small emotional addictions what ever he turns his hand to.

Both of you demonstrate qualities which the real 10% have about them that causes people to want to know them. Twenty years from now yourself and Grizz will probably be two names that will come to mind for players reminiscing because in real life you never forget people who act by those qualities.

Human long term memory studies for good and bad experiences shows only the best are selectively remembered based on how memory is physicaly laid down. If the worst becomes a long term memory the person in question is on par with Jack the Ripper, Gregory Dalmer, Adolfh Hitler, Saloth Sar, Josef Stalin..........

How you act in an anonymous setting is a very good window into who you really are, and only act just a hair better in real life to keep your job and someone warm around to make your bunny slippers warm.

Didn't make any sense though.  Sunsfan is as much of an anti score guy as I have ever seen.  He'd rather auger when bingo than go land most of the time because he gets bored rtb'n.  Normally a joke is based on some piece of truth, and since there was no truth at all to it, it was just a really bad joke if that's what we are calling it.

Never failing to deliever your message of "nice HO, dweeb" or "LOL @ runstang".

Despite your firm belief in winning the war, and knowledge in history and tactics, there be an AH vet to school you publicly... But don't feel bad, Mr. Average, because even if the AH world knocks your cartoon pilot on your butt, Bud Light will always bring back your shiny new plane.

If only the 10% existed in the game half of them would be below average.

In AH it seems the bottom 10% go on to be generals and they spend all of thier time denegrating the rest of their countrymen.
