Anyone heard of them or had one? Thinking about getting one the next few months to replace my old, beatup LG.
Opinions?
-
I'm writing this using my X... love it.
-
Also have a Droid X, they're great.
-
I have a LG Alley with Android from Verizon. I love it, its great. only problem that i've had recently is the browser will crash sometimes.
-
I have an X best phone I've owned so far. Was using the blackberry Storm.
-
I'm thinking of three phones, HTC EVO 4G, Samsung EPIC 4G, or the new LG Optimus S. I like the LG Optimus S a lot.
-
I switched from the storm to the droidx. awesome phone, large screen. you can see youtube in hd. and the camera and video recorded are awesome.
these are my kids playing at a local bar. taken with the droidx. not the best setting first time i really used the camera at night in a bar. and I used one of the built it sound filters. my bad.

this is the same song, taken by somebody else next to me.

notice how dark the other phone is and how clear it is with the droidx. I took mine in hd 1920x1080. but only uploaded 720p. it takes a long time to upload. no bad comments about my kids they're just having fun.
and this is a picture taken last month at the grand canyon. 2 days after i got the phone.

Recently picked up a Huawei Joy (aka Vodafone 845) for ~$US135 and slapped an 8Gb microsd card in it for another $US20. Compact android nice screen, 3g, wifi, gps, bluetooth, gps, microsd slot, 3.2megapixel camera... wow is it awesome. Also found graffiti is available for android (old hand writing recognition thing from the early palm days) for free... it just made this device perfect.
Liked it so much I got my wife one. Some people think the screen is a bit small but imho it's just right, plus the graffiti recognition makes the need for a keyboard - physical or virtual - redundant.
I've also picked up a Haipad (Chinese) M701R, 7" slate, not 3G, but wifi, hdmi out, microsd slot etc. I use the wifi tethering on the phone when I want to surf on the tablet. Means one SIM... one data plan.
I've finally retired my 6 year old treo :)

You aren't using your phone to its full potential until you root it and run custom roms
-
Try using the voice recognition on droid x not perfect but it is fun. I used it to type this

Everyone I personally know with one without exception loves em.
I'd have one myself but I need something a bit more rugged

I love it. I've got the Droid 1, or whatever the original is called. The Android system works well, and there's a lot of apps out there for whatever you want it to do. I have a neat little airplane instrument panel for my car, for instance.
The GPS works really well. When I can get a decent number of satellites, I can usually get a fix to between 6-9 feet in accuracy. The maps function linked to google maps works well in most areas. I highly recommend the car docking station if you like GPS on the road. I use it every once in a while.
It takes good pictures and really good video. I just got a program to backup my files so I can get at them from any computer, and it'll tell me where the phone is on a map if it's lost or stolen.
I have the entire US Constitution, with all amendments, Declaration of Independence, etc.
It's a flashlight. It's pretty bright too.
Cool Nav data for my desk at a glance:
Heading: 84deg
MGRS grid: 13SED 008xx 890xx
Speed: 0.0mpg (it is accurate on the road though)
Pitch/Roll: 000 L01
Mag. field: 45
Declination: 8deg
Alt: 5386 (-68ft)
Error: 19ft
Fix/Sats: 10/10
29deg outside and mostly cloudy.
You'll like it.

I'm another Droid Xer. I do my Excel stuff on it, tossed all my tech manuals and use it as a PDF reader, surf stupid forums like this on it...do most my email on it....use it as my prime mp3 player...Pandora player...they tell me it makes phone calls too
-
Posting from my droid x right now.....love this phone!!! I think the number of apps for android phones outnumber apps for iphones now.

Is this rugged enough?

Hmm...even with the 2.2 OS, cant log in to my online banking, though wife's Storm does it fine. Perhaps for the best

Driod is used for the office, my personal phone is a Samsung Galaxy S. I much prefer the Galaxy.
-
I have a Galaxy Tab and Sony Ericsson X10.. both are great and use Android.

Everyone loves those Droid's. Me personally I love the HTC Evo 4G that I bought a couple days ago. It has a 4'' screen with a 8 mega pixel camera. Has all the features of the Droid minus the keyboard. Service is better too, can never go wrong with Sprint. While most of you are paying in the 100s for your phone (includes insurance, 700 minutes, free on the weekends, unlimited text and internet service, sprint TV and the Nascar/NFL network. Android Network, and 4G) I pay about 80.
If you don't like just touch screens, Sprint also has the Samsung Epic 4G. It has all the same amenities as the Evo, just with a keyboard but a smaller camera.
Great phones.

I read 50,000+ for Android vs. 200,000+ for iPhone? I'm not sure, but I've decided to get the LG Optimus S, I'll save enough money to get a new computer and HD monitor soon.

The android market is growing much faster now. Also, we don't have 50,000 fart apps like iOS :D

I pay $20/month for unlimited call/text/internet. For all 3 phones (2 Blackberries, 1 Droid) total is about $85/month with Verizon. :D

We get a discount 94 a month for my droidx and basic texting/phone for my gf.

Wife and I each got a Motorola Droid X. Fantastic. We love 'em. They may be a compromise for many standalones, but they are indeed the Swiss army knife of pocket computers (notice I didn't say just phone). Some of the Droid X applications we now use much more than separate devices include:
phone
navigator (including voice command)
still camera
motion picture camera
music tuner
music metronome
music player
electronic book reader (still use Kindle on this screen)
compass
leveler
bar code reader
internet searcher
e-mail reader
various games and puzzles
Skype
and of course the usual stuff like
calculator
Typing e-mail is still not as easy as on a full size keyboard, and reading on a full size screen is certainly more pleasant.
A fantastic feature often overlooked or taken for granted is excellent type size control and ragged right margin achievable through the unique six-axis controller like the Sony Playstation 3. Solves the problem of small screen readability. Just tilt between vertical and horizontal until the type is just what you want.
The Droid X is another game changer. It has just about replaced our laptop and netbook computers, but we probably always will need a full size computer with full size screen, printer, and scanner.
We've always been on Verizon Wireless since it has the best service in our area (Northern Virginia).

Just got an HTC Desire , and it is great , bought it as a replacement for an Acer mobile that was running windows mobile , the HTC is miles better , cant see me replacing this until it dies .
