Just reformatted my system yesterday hoping to take care of a problem I have been having for the last couple months, but no joy.
It started up again this morning “Desktop Window manager stopped working and was closed.” I have the default Windows back ground. The latest drivers for my GTX 260, updated the BIOS for my Gigabyte MB. Sometimes it is a blue screen, other times just the message about the desktop manager stopped working. I think the issue is related to the desktop manager that stops working because both started around the same time.
Windows 7 Home Premium
MB Gigabyte GA-EP45TUD3P
Intell Duo E8500
8 Gig RAM
Vid Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
Sound Sound Blaster Audigy
64bit OS
Could it be a memory issue? How could I check my memory? It is Kingston.
Other ideas? With a fresh format I am really stumped as to what it could be.

It doesn't sound like a memory issue to me but to test it download and run memtest.

Have you overclocked your computer? If yes drop to stock speed (everything) and retest.

I will try the memory test.
Never dabbled in overclocking. :)
