Why are you wandering with such an expensive stick? :noid
X-65F Force Sensing Stick for me with CH Pro Rudder Pedals :aok

TM HOTAS COUGAR........love the stick and everything i can do to tune adjust alter and program it.
i have modified it and programed it so that i could use it in conjunction with my Track IR on first person "mouse and keyboard only" type first person shooters.
one of the biggest benefits of it is the all metal casing and internal linkage and armature construction, even if all the dashpots, buttons and rotaries break i can replace them from any one of a thousand sources the metal case linkage and armature will last forever.
case in point, i was starting to develop some problems with the centering of the my X and Y axis from years of use. so just a few days ago i opened the bottom of the stick, took a pair of pliers and gently squeezed the riding rails of the armature closer together, put the screws back in the bottom, recalibrate in game and perfection once again.
now so as not to lead anyone to believe that this must be done often, this is the first time i have done this in the 4 years that i have owned it. i would additionally state that my stick has been dropped, frustration slapped and generally abused many times over those 4 years. it has seen a level of rough abuse that i can easily say that no plastic shelled stick could have survived more than a month or two of.
i wont go back to cheap plastic crap sticks like the X52 or CH products ever again.

CH all the way with TrackIR but the Warthog is on my radar

Yep, that's the website. It did take awhile for the kits to come in and I had to send a couple e-mails, but the kits are well done and work great.

I got my old +HS RCS mod kit from him and it was a great setup when I had my Cougar.
I am currently using a X-52 Pro HOTAS setup that my son bought me this past summer after I sold my Cougar.
I have a Warthog inbound to me from a contest that I won over at SimHQ.com; can't wait to check that puppy out in its full glory!

edge do you have the actual e-mail address? i cant use the click links to send him an email because my email isnt linked in this computer. could anyone go to his home page (the link edge posted above) and click on his email link copy and paste the address to a pm and send it to me?
thanx!
-
the problem i have with the ST290 is the fact that the thottle is behind the stick. for me it makes landing a bit tricky but thats just my opinion. what joysticks have seperate throttles and sticks that would be the best that money can buy?

MSFFB2 + CH Pro pedals.
(I've replaced switches on the FFB2 several times; it's easy and they're dirt cheap. The FFB2 does drop my AH frame rate by 18% though.)

Logitech Freedom 2.4 wireless twisty stick here.. Its the 2nd one I own during my 4 years of flight, and now this one is about to quit on me too.. :(
Main problem is the tophat switch, it gets floppy after a while and it gets really tricky to get the views to work. Another issue is spiking when gentle inputs are applied, such as in aiming.. :joystick:
I need to win the lottery, because my main issue above my crappy stick is my even crappier lametop.. It barely run the game, and my videocard do not handle high res or high number of players around.. :cry

you should be able to find the difference between the sticks in these sites.

Thanks for the reply, but I've seen all of those. There's very few people who've owned both. That's what I'm lookin for.

well i can tell you this much, my best friend/squaddie JETSOM (you may know him as Ink) burned through 3 X52's in i believe a year and a half. now keep in mind that he tends to play alot more than the average player, but still for a stick that expensive it doesnt say much for durability. the X52 Pro is made of the same parts and materials as the X52, so i doubt it would prove any more reliable in the long run. i believe he now uses a CH stick with the X52 throttle. he loves his set up and it has proven reliable thus far.
i use TM HOTAS COUGAR and i love it! nothing like all metal construction for that feel of strength and durability, but the switches (like the switched used by every stick manufacturer) do need the occassional cleaning or replacing. the amout of mods that can be done to it are unbelieveable and the ability to program it through either Foxy or T.A.R.G.E.T are un parralled by any other system. so i am a touch biased against the plastic junk :)
good luck and happy hunting

They are easy to keep alive also. I still have my first 3D Pro. It's very loose, but when you consider I used it for 7 years and just opened it up now and then to fix it and the buttons.. It was the best 30 bucks I ever spent. I currently use an X52, on my second. The only issue I ever had with the stick was it's spastic tendencies. The cord connecting the two components would come loose and reset my stick center until I fully unplugged it for 4-5 seconds. Awesome fun when in the middle of a dogfight. Makes me wonder how it didn't end up through a window. The new one I just bought doesn't have the issue, so aside from that, I think the X52 is a great stick.

no wonder why your never around anymore.............

Let's see, I had the x52 for approx 2 years then that took a healty dump on me all at once. Then I tried the CH fighter stick and pro pedals. They were great until my brothers dog decided he needed a chew toy and used my stick for that. So I read the reviews and talked to a couple of people and bought myself the Logitech G940 flight system. The force feedback was a complete different experience for me. I like the fact also that it is heavy enough that it doesn't slip and slide everywhere. I was genuinely surprised to find the metal construction also.
The only drawback I have found is that the pedals seem too narrow for my liking, so when I can I am going to mod them to be wider. The second drawback is the price, I paid 312 for the setup.
Ohh it has its own power supply to the stick and the pedals and throttle connect via gameport connections.
