Ok, I know the M4s are relatively new and that we just recieved news that the B29 is ib...I really think the next addition to the AH community should be the Panther. The Armor we have now is great, but I think this short paragraph would make agree that it deserves to be in the game:
The Best Army Tanks of World War II
The Panther, T-34, Tiger, Mk. IV Panzer, and Sherman
By Chuck Hawks
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion as to which tank was the best of WW II. My criteria for inclusion were that the tanks selected had to be a major factor in the war, be produced in large numbers, and be effective in battle. The German King Tiger, for instance, was not included as it was unreliable, slow, and only 484 were produced. It proved more useful dug-in as a gun emplacement than for maneuver, hardly a great recommendation for a tank.
Here is a quote from Hasso Manteuffel, commander of the German 7th Panzer Division, taken from Basil Hart's book The Other Side of the Hill:
"Tanks must be fast. That, I would say, is the most important lesson of the war in regard to tank design. The Panther was on the right lines, as a prototype."
"Fire-power, armor protection, speed and cross-country performance are the essentials, and the best type of tank is that which combines these conflicting requirements with the most success. In my opinion the German Panzer V, the 'Panther,' was the most satisfactory of all, and would have been close to the ideal had it been possible to design with a lower silhouette."
Following, in order of precedence, are my choices as the best tanks of WW II.

Sure, then let us also get the M-26 Pershing to give us a tank that can go toe to toe with a Panther.
ack-ack
-
Lets, I think the addition of more Gvs would make it more appealing.....WE LOVE YOU ACK-ACK :aok
-
The problem with the GVs is that more than half will need to be perked at this rate. It also seems more of a problem for early war tanks to have any chance of success compared with early war fighters. A Spitfire Mk Ia may be slow and underpowered, but it's .303s are still capable of putting holes in an F4U-4 whereas a Chi-Ha has pretty much no chance of doing anything at all to a Panther V G or T-34/85.

Which is probably why HiTech decided with "Aces High" as opposed to "Tankers Low"..

Here comes Bar's M-18 :rofl

Aces High put tanks in the game and then everyone treats them like the government does cigarettes. They are a legal product but they are attacked at every turn. I say band cigarettes or leave them alone. The same goes for tanks in this game. The drives alone just to GV is bad enough without the constant whines about tanks. The are in the game get over it.

Ok, problem with the IS series is that they mounted powerful guns and very tough armor, but were slow and could not traverse as well as Main Battle Tanks...SU122 samne thing.
-
lol that picture isnt any of the things you just listed :P its an SU-100, and you are correct about themk though, but what they were used for, no transverse was required, rather then being "tank destroyers" (which they did very well at) they were actually classified as Assault guns
-
This thread got hijacked quick
-
I have heard through the grapevine that the Panther is in the works...but will deff. be pushed back by the b29
Be patient i think their working on it.
-
I actually feel that the IS would have a place in the game. The 122mm HE rounds would be fantastic for a base assault.

Meant SU, lol...whoops. Just know that its said JagdTiger was best Assault/AT Platform and that all of em pretty much were at the mercy of infantry.

by that theory then you would have to say the king tiger was the best tank in ww2 low numbers, slow with a big gun, over all the SU (T-34 chasis) and ISU (KV Chasis) were the best assault guns in ww2, for armour to speed to fire power and for reliabliity
