Am looking for some answers to some probably common questions, but I don't see a sticky with FAQ's or a master thread with links to other thread for common questions. Is there one around?
Things like 'how do i turn properly without bleeding all my E' and 'whats the best fighter' (HA!).
Loving the game so far, too bad I'm getting my butt handed to me on a platter.
Cheers

On the main page under Support and under Game Info.

I was more referring to something within this forum, so I don't ask the same question that has probably been asked a thousand times before.

The official trainer's website is a great resource:
http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/ (http://trainers.hitechcreations.com/)
Edit:
Forum search isn't the best, and you kind of have to guess at what to search for.

Agreed, so perhaps a sticky thread with commonly asked questions, links to training and other great posts may be a good idea?
Heck, I can start one if people think it will help.

Reading and studying the trainers page will answer 95% of your questions. Like this game, there are no short cuts. Even working with a trainer ( a very good idea btw) it will take weeks if not months before you stop haveing your butt handed to you.

The FAQ under Support on the main page answers the commonly asked questions.

Plus you can go back and surf through the questions asked on this forum and gain a wealth of knowledge.
Whatever road you chose accept that it is going to take time, and lots of it.

Yes, which is why i was asking if there were a list of commonly asked questions posed in this forum, or a post with a lot of the great posts made here collected and aggregated into one post for ease of reference later. This only relates to this forum, not the site at large.

For what purpose?
If you want to learn the game, read the Trainers web site first. If you don't want to learn the game as a new guy, you have the wrong objective. Learn the game first.
Have you read the Trainers web site yet?
Practice offline, shooting drones. Work with trainers. Find experienced wingmen in the Main Arena. Expect to die a lot.

You might want to consider joining a squad. Many of them are quite willing to accept the newest of members and enjoy the "teaching" aspect of the game. Flying with a good group of people that have an interest in your development is one of the most important aspects of rapid growth in skill and knowledge of the game.
VF-17 took me in with me being on AH only 2 weeks. It was the only 2 weeks I had ever had on flight sims and that was July of 2009. With their help I've learned a ton.
Good luck!

Welcome, Somerled!
You might find Soda's aircraft evaluation pages http://members.shaw.ca/soda_p/models.htm (http://members.shaw.ca/soda_p/models.htm) helpful in learning about the capabilities and strengths/weaknesses of the various aircraft in the game.
The link is also available from the Community/Useful Links tab on the AH home page. Enjoy!

Hello Somerled, and welcome!
There's no "sticky" or FAQ because there's SO MUCH information about what's going on in and around the game, that the FAQ itself would require it's own webpage, and amazingly enough, it DOES.
That's part of the problem. There's so much information out there, that even 10 years later, we're STILL learning about certain functions of the game, the aircraft, and the tweaks and guidelines of how to do things. Unfortunately, there's no real "quick prep" out there that'll work.
For instance, the two questions you asked 'how do i turn properly without bleeding all my E' and 'whats the best fighter'... technically, neither of them have distinct answers, so they wouldn't be in a "quick bite" type answer. In the case of the best fighter, that's a very subjective thing. Some people think the 190D is phenominal as it can outrun almost anything, has hard hitting guns, and a roll rate to shake even the most maneuverable off your 6... some people prefer the P-38, as it's ability to keep it's nose pointed straight up and STABLE is almost unparalleled. You'll have defenders of almost any fighter craft out there. In terms of "turning properly without bleeding E", that's actually slightly different per aircraft, as each aircraft has it's own speeds it does well at, meaning different amounts of pressure on your controller during different speeds with different aircraft would be the best answer, and that's where websites like the Trainer's and Soda's aircraft Evals come into play.
Welcome aboard to the insanity. =)
