Write down the best lyrics from a song that mean alot for one reason or another.
Rise Against is my favorite band but that isn't the reason why i picked these two stanzas of lyrics
Hero of War
A hero of war
Is that what they see
Just medals and scars
So damn proud of me
And I brought home that flag
Now it gathers dust
But it's a flag that I love
It's the only flag I trust
Drones
The drones all slave away, they're working overtime,
They serve a faceless queen, they never question why.
Disciples of a God, that neither lives nor breathes, (I won't come back!)
But we have bills to pay, yeah we have mouths to feed! (I won't come back!)
I won't come back!
Self explanatory why i chose them

Either of these two
Almost Human by Voltaire
What did I ever do to you
that you should treat me this way?
is it really such a crime
for an angel to speak his mind?
in time I'll try to shed some light
if I were a big boy I wouldn't cry
but since I'm not a big boy I'll have to cry
what did I ever do so wrong
that you should cast me from grace
though I love to rule in hell here
how I miss the taste of heaven
its soft and cool embrace
if I were a big boy I wouldn't cry
but since I'm not a big boy
I'll have to close my eyes
and picture what's it's like
I'm just like you
made by he
despised by they
I'm almost me
I'm nearly human look at me
I'm almost a human being
I'm just like you
made by he
despised by they
I'm almost me
i'm nearly human
pity me I'm almost a human being
(That's just half of it)
Love Vigilantes by Iron & Wine.
Oh, I've just come from the land of the sun
From a war that must be won in the name of truth
With our soldiers so brave, your freedom we will save
With our rifles and grenades and some help from God
CHORUS: I want to see my family
My wife and child are waiting for me
I've got to go home
I've been so alone, you see
You just can't believe the joy I did receive
When I finally got my leave and I was going home
Oh, I flew through the sky and my convictions could not lie
For my country I would die and I will see it soon
CHORUS
When I walked through the door my wife she laid upon the floor
And with tears her eyes did soar, I did not know why
Then I looked into her hand and I saw the telegram
Said that I was a brave, brave man but that I was dead
CHORUSx2
I think love vigilantes would have a few more fans here than the other. Actually, when I was first listening to it, it made me think of my Great Grandfather who was killed in the Pacific

The next train to Adelaide will depart from platform one, stopping all stations
Verse 1– Pressure
Early morn, train station, aching from the arthritis,
This war veteran knows what a hard time is,
He needs his pension, dementia and half blind is,
The reason he rides the train with no car license,
So he boards with an expired ticket has a swipe,
Gets a fine cos the change he got don’t add up right,
We’re taking about a man who never lived a lavish life,
Caught up in the age of computer chips and satellites,
A lovely lady boards looking tired and half awake,
He smiles, she’s reminds him of his wife that past away,
She says something as she walks right past his way,
His old hearing aid don’t last quite half a day,
Some young gentlemen alive with their laughter,
Approach the old timer and put a knife to his heart to,
Explain that money or blood the price of their barter,
To a man whose friends probably died for their fathers.
Chorus
Whatever it takes can justify,
Whatever ends we make, whatever the price,
To the end of a life, it’s just an observation,
So take a ride we’re stopping all stations.
Verse 2 – Pressure
It’s been a long night the suns lifting on a cold,
Morning but she’s drugged and drunk tripping on her stroll,
On the way home, she’s done with stripping on a pole,
But she can’t pay for her son living on the dole,
Jumps a train puts on her gloves she’s wearing black,
Being watched by some old mug she’s glaring back,
She’s on edge and got the bug from sharing smack,
So she says, “Hey, what the diddly you staring at??
He smiles, an unsteady hand rubs on his dome,
She takes a seat, a messy band of ruffs board alone,
To the digger with a machete at his lungs and he’s prone,
He can barely stand but ready to stand up for his own,
She tries to help him she doesn’t choose to flee the car,
And catches a blow with enough bruise to leave a scar,
She starts fainting, the rooms moving and seeing stars,
Aint it amazing how courageous human beings are?
Chorus
Whatever it takes can justify,
Whatever ends we make, whatever the price,
To the end of a life, it’s just an observation,
So take a ride we’re stopping all stations.
Verse 3 – Pressure
He knows nothing but toil, strife and hard yakka,
Pissed at the world for playing wife in a slammer,
This man was never given a life on a damn platter,
So he jumps a train with knife and bandanna,
Boys at his back, sleazy, hardened and far,
From giving a diddly, an easy target his mark,
He sees an old man and says “See we’ll part with your hard,
Earned cash or rest in peace we can start with your heart.?
Some girl steps not afraid she’s gonna cop it sweet,
And gets decked before she made it even on her feet,
The old man leaped to her aid and to his horror he’d,
Thrusted his chest into the blade of his robber s piece,
He grabbed the wallet, dropped the knife as he fled the car,
Concerned about the loss of life he’d never went this far,
What’s done is done, he’d got the prize and he’d spent his half,
Of two dollars in change and a pension card.

Helloween - Falling Higher
I thought that I felt alright with my world
But now what I knew seems taken by someone
Probing me, waiting if I take the bait
Surrender, step into the line
We won't give into the false
We are not as dull as taken
some will hold out if they can
They must kill us if they want us to fall
When we unite
We're falling higher
When worlds collide
We'll stand straight in turmoil and fear
No harm coming near
Hungry forever since we took a glance
Feared that the world was taken by someone
We realized by the look in your eyes
Metal will never die
With magic in our hands
We are lost-and-found contenders
For a kingdom of our stand
Come together no surrender at all
SOLO
With magic in our hands
We are lost-and-found contenders
For a kingdom of our stand
Come together no surrender at all
When we unite
We're falling higher
When worlds collide
We'll stand straight in turmoil and fear
No harm coming near
No harm coming near
No harm coming near
We're falling higher

Anything by The Beatles, but this one especially.
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
Hey Jude, don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you, hey Jude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah yeah
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her under your skin
Then you'll begin to make it
Better

I haven't liked too much of Linkin Park's music for the couple of years, until this song. Can't get it out of my head.
This is not the end
This is not the beginning
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violent rhythm
Though the words sound steady
Something emptys within em
We say yeah
With fists flying up in the air
Like we’re holding onto something that’s invisible there
Cuz we’re living at the mercy of the pain and the fear
Until we dead it forget it
Let it all disappear
Waiting for the end to come
Wishing I had strenght to stand
This is not what I had planned
It’s out of my control
Flying at the speed of light
Thoughts were spinning in my head
So many things were left unsaid
It’s hard to let you go
I know what it takes to move on
I know how it feels to lie
All I wanna do is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven’t got
Sitting in an empty room
Trying to forget the past
This was never meant to last
I wish it wasn’t so
What was left when that fire was gone
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
And trying to figure out what it’s like moving on
And I don’t even know what kind of things I said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
Picking up those pieces now where to begin
The hardest part of ending is starting again
All I wanna do is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven’t got
This is not the end
This is not the beginning
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violent rhythm
Though the words sound steady
Something emptys within em
We say yeah
With fists flying up in the air
Like we’re holding onto something that’s invisible there
Cuz we’re living at the mercy of the pain and the fear

Not going to throw any lyrics out there, there are simply too many great ones for me to narrow it down.
I quoted you here just to say that I do love Iron & Wine. That dude is just amazing, haven't heard a single bad song by him yet and I have like 6 albums of his.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.
Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.
Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.
Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.
I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.
With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going, going...

Also, maddafinga, which albums? I have Around the Well, Endless Numbered Days and The Shepard's Dog

Endless Numbered Days, Creek Drank the Cradle, Woman King, The Sea and The Rhythm, and In the Reins. I guess that's only 5, that's what I get for relying on my memory though. I want to get that around the well, probably will here in the next month or so. He's a great musician. Creek Drank the Cradle is still probably my favorite though.

FADE TO BLACK - METALLICA
Life it seems will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters, no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this can't be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me but now he's gone
No one but me can save myself
But it's too late
Now I can't think
Think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though
It never existed
Death greets me warm
Now I will just say goodbye

"This Ain't Nothin'"
He was standing in the rubble of an old farmhouse outside Birmingham
When some on the scene reporter stuck a camera in the face of that old man
He said "tell the folks please mister, what are you gonna do
Now that this twister has taken all that's dear to you"
The old man just smiled and said "boy let me tell you something, this ain't nothing"
He said I lost my daddy, when I was eight years old,
That cave-in at the Kincaid mine left a big old hole,
And I lost my baby brother, my best friend and my left hand
In a no win situation in a place called Vietnam
And last year I watched my loving wife, of fifty years waste away and die
And I held her hand til her heart of gold stopped pumping,
So this ain't nothin'
He said I learned at an early age,
There's things that matter and there's things that don't
So if you're waiting here for me to cry,
I hate to disappoint you boy, but I won't
Then he reached down in the rubble and picked up a photograph
Wiped the dirt off of it with the hand that he still had
He put it to his lips and said man she was something
But this ain't nothin'
He said I lost my daddy, when I was eight years old,
That cave-in at the Kincaid mine left a big old hole,
And I lost my baby brother, my best friend and my left hand
In a no win situation in a place called Vietnam
And last year I watched my loving wife, of fifty years waste away and die
We were holding hands when her heart of gold stopped pumping
So this ain't nothin'
This ain't nothin' time won't erase
And this ain't nothin' money can't replace
He said you sit and watch your loving wife fifty years fighting for her life
Then you hold her hand til her heart of gold stops pumping
Yeah boy that's something,
So this ain't nothin'
Yeah this ain't nothin'

Write down the best lyrics from a song that mean alot for one reason or another.
Too many to post. Really depends on the mood.
The first few from a long gone wild youth. The last one still makes me wonder.
”There was beer all over the dance floor
and the band was playin' rhythm and blues
You got down and did the gator, and half
an hour later, you were barfin' all over your
Girlfriend's shoes.”
-The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks, The Eagles
“You lie down with dogs you fall in with thieves
You're gonna catch something but you do as you please
You're scratchin' an itch that nothing can ease
You lie down with dogs you get up with fleas”
-You Lie Down With Dogs, Alan Parsons Project
“When I say she was cool she was red hot
I mean, she was steamin”
-The Boys Are Back in Town, Thin Lizzy
“I'm not a coward I've just never been tested
I'd like to think that if I was I would pass
Look at the tested and think there but for the grace go I
Might be a coward
I'm afraid of what I might find out”
-Impression That I Get, Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Killswitch Engage-Rose of Sharyn
Numb, i'm broken
Here i stand alone.
Wondering the words,
The last words i said to you
It won't be long
We'll meet again...
What would i give, to behold
The smile, the face of love?
You never left me
The rising sun
Will always speak your name
It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting.
I mourn for those who never knew you
I mourn for those who never knew you
It won't be long, we'll meet again
Your memory is never passing
It won't be long, we'll meet again
My love for you is everlasting.
It won't be long, we'll meet again..
It won't be long, we'll meet again..
It won't be long, we'll meet again..
It won't be long, we'll meet again..
