Check out Gary Hoeys web site--He used to have free video lessons on it.

And if you can read tablature there are thousands of places to go.

Rock on!  :rock

What happened to the picture of the red guitar that you posted?  Not only was it red, it was a completely different model.

Good luck!  Playing an instrument will give you a lifetime of enjoyment.  19 years ago this spring I picked up my first squier strat and still play daily.

I own several guitars, DC Les Paul, Jackson Soloist,Charvel somethin or other and a old old Yamaha.

A friend returned a favor by buying me a Squire Telecaster Custom2 a few years ago.

I hardly ever played it because I didn't care for the PAF pickups or the volume controls.

But it played like butter!! absolutly loved that aspect of it.

Squire has come a looooong way in the build quality of their instruments!! :rock

Its going into the shop very soon to be injected with a George Lynch "screamin demon" pick up and some sort of diode that make the sound cleaner the more I turn it down.

As it is, when you turn down the volume knob on the guitar it stays distorted and just gets quieter, but still distorted.

Great lookin Guitar for the OP!!  Enjoy!!------Now go out and buy a Marshall amp!!

:x Dude, I am so freakin' jealous of you right now! I have had my piece of #@%$ SX guitar for 2 years now, but it is still somehow holding together. I love playing it though. The first song that I learned was 'Comatose' by Skillet. I can now play Monster, Sometimes, It's Not Me, It's You, Awake and Alive, and some more, but I can't remember them. I'm working on hero, and I still haven't gotten the solo from Sometimes down. Just keep practicing. Even if its just a few minutes and you will get better.

Get guitar hero  :neener:

Guitar hero is for pansies. Real rockstars actually work at it.  ;)

A Squier strat was my first also :aok  Stick with it, takes a few months to get your fingers to remember the chord shapes but after that you can play most anything.

I have an old Aria classical from the 60s/70s, still sounds absolutely wonderful. I'm looking into getting an Electric or maybe
an E/Bass sometime in the future. That's one nice lookin' guitar you got there Columbus

Best guitar lessons I have found for teaching yourself are the ones from Doug Marks called Metal Method.  Don't let the name fool you, it is actually a pretty solid beginner's course for any style. It is a DVD set with computer files on the disk for printouts, etc.
I am using it, and it is working very well for me.  The price is very reasonable, and follow up after the sale is pretty good too. Their site is here: http://www.metalmethod.com/ You can also find demos on Youtube, and be sure to check out their message board.
I don't normally plug any product, but this is an exception.  Lots of cheesy guitar courses out there, this one is worth the money.
For free, try youtube, but I have found that the free resources are pretty hit-and-miss.
