The 444th is forming and starting to recruit bomber pilots with the intention of launching a weekly raid on Strategic targets!
The squad is designed to operate along historic lines and is based upon the real 444th which which was the pioneer Superfortress group. As part of the 58th Bomb Wing in XX Bomber Command of the 20th Air Force, the 444th was among the first to fly missions out of India until transferred to Tinian in the spring of 1945. They were among the first bombers to start hitting Japan in 1944 and participated in the great firebombing raids which helped to bring the war to an end.
We are looking for pilots who enjoy buffs and a historically minded squadron, maturity is a must as I already have two kids I'm raising. :D
We will be training using the B-24J while our Superforts are still in development, that's how the real 444th trained and that's how we will do it. Squad nights will be focused on a bomber mission, but off nights will be open to the wishes of the members though 20th AAF planes will alwas be in favor.
We will be a Bishop squad unless the majority wish to change.
If any of you are interested in joining the 444th, then please feel free to reply or shoot me a PM or come on over to the 444th website at www.444thbombgroup.com and have a look around.

Why create the 444th you ask? There are several reasons actually.
1. My grandfather's baby brother Robert Finneran served in the 444th on Tinian and sadly was killed there in a crash landing in 1945. May his and his comrades memory be honored here.
2. There is no other PTO based Bomb Groups in Aces High. (that I know of)
3. The development and pending release of the long hoped for Superfortress! Which has been an obsession since I was a kid mowing yards all summer and saving up to buy that B-29 model kit!
4. Like the real 444th, the Virtual 444th is going to be the Pioneer B-29 group of AH2.
S! and thanks for looking!

Good luck :aok :salute

Welcome to Malibu! Great to have you in the squad!

What flag you flying as? Bish by any chance? :D hit the 20th FG up and we'll try and set up escorts for you if you are. We already fly with the Dickweeds and the 91st but we'd be happy to help you guys out too <S>
(now i just need to find where my squaddies went these last two weeks :noid )
-
Great, another Bish Bomber Group :noid
Good Luck 444th! :aok :salute
-
I'm very excited about this group! Do you guys have a squad night yet?
-
Thanks for the kind welcome! We would be most grateful for any escorts available! I'll look for you boys before we launch a raid.
Last night Malibu and I were able to hit the Rook Radar and knock it down to 32%, claiming a fighter apiece, but losing 2 of six bombers in the formation!
I've not established a squad night as yet, is there an established bish bomber night?
-
Give the 82nd FG a toot if you're planning or running any raids... We're glad to run the little friends!
the 91st I'm sure can vouch for our escort experience as well.
Regards,
Cav

Need to arrange some escorts if any are available! :D

444th is back on the job and looking for new crews!
-
444th and company hit the strats tonight! Here is an AAR I typed up.
Just finished our first op in B-29s.
Mission Start: 21:25
Mission End: 23:30
Mission Summary
Six B-29s departed A229 heading south. A singleton formed up with the group south over the water where the first interceptor hit us. and We had constant contact from the bay to the target and back over the mountains to home where we set back down at A222. All seven Superforts hit strategic targets, but there is more work to do and the group will have to go back to finish the job soon. One of my flight suffered a fuel leak, I had some holes in my wings on "Sky Chief" and Redtail lost power to one of his flaps, but we all landed safely thanks to the good people at Boeing and our escort.
Claims
Lemay - 1 Spitfire
W1ldcat! - 1 Spitfire
Redtail - 2 Fw190 of some new high altitude type
Alfamega - 2 Fw190s of same advanced type
Sky Chief Warming up her Wright 3350's.
The Business end of ALFAMEGA fully loaded P-47N.
Getting intercepted en route, it's called Superfortress for a reason! 6 o'clock attack ends badly.
W1ldcat! rendezvous with the formation just in time for some action.
This new experimental 190 will not be available for examination thanks to Redtail :devil
(http://www.444thbombgroup.com/images/pics/ta-flames%20(1280x800).jpg)
Rain of Iron in the forecast today!
Weatherman is right for once.
Everyone makes it home ok and "Sky Chief" gets a mission bomb and a Jap flag painted on by the crew chief.
Salute! to the friends and foes who made the mission fun!

:salute
If any of your bomber pilots want to fly Friday Squad Operations, I have a dedicated bomber squad registered. Much better than MA action. FSO is held in Special Events Arena 1 on Friday nights starting at 11PM EST/10PM CST.
Each FSO is 3 Friday nights in a row. There is a rotating Commander in Chief (CIC) selected by the Campaign Managers (CM's) for each of the Axis and Allied squads. The CIC receives objectives (attack and defense assignments) and creates orders among the registered squads for that week on his side pertaing to aircraft assignments, defense, and strike packages (bombers, JABO's, fighter sweeps, and escorts).
It comes down to which CIC had the best plan to the squads making tactical choices in the air that determines the outcomes. Sometimes you find yourself in the tower after 20 minutes to landing 2 hours later as a survivor and in-between.
95% of the time my squad is in bombers and the other times are in fighters. FSO's range from 1938 to 1945 eras utilizing limited planesets designed by the CM's. We fly them all from A-20's to Ju-87's and Ju-88's to Ki-67's plus 8th Air Force on occasion to blue water carrier ops.
Take-off, climb to altitude, form up, be escorted, receive target information, defend against enemy fighters, release bombs, egress out, and head for home. The best fun you can have in Aces High as American, British, German, Japanese and Russian bomber pilots.
Just PM me if you guys are interested. I have limited spots for pilots. Extra bodies can fill in as gunners/observers.
:salute
-
Welcome to Heiggwin! great to have you on board!
I'll talk to the guys about FSO. Might be a fun thing to do.
-
Oct 7th, 14th, and 21st are the next FSO dates.
