working virtual from home today. :aok

Not much snow if you're from the midwest, but you have to understand that around here....
A) Most folks around here don't know HOW to drive in snow (Think Californian's who have transplanted here in the past 30 years!)
B) LOTS of hills and mountains. Seattle has a couple streets steeper than those found in San Francisco.
C) Snow is always an excuse for the yuppies to call in sick. :)

Taken from my backyard yesterday:

Opening Day at Baker.

Bellingham is a skating rink / blast freezer.
Crystal opened here in the South end, but limited runs open.
Hopefully they'll have everything open next week-end. Then it will be a Motor home and ski/snowboard week-end!  :rock

Staking rink?  Send it my way!  (grew up skiing in the east.  I'll take some nice "hard pack" any day of the week, long as I can sharpen my edges :D)

Nowadays I'm happy if I can get out at all in a season.   :frown:

Forecasters say this winter could be the coldest Europe has seen in the last 1,000 years,
The change is reportedly connected with the speed of the Gulf Stream, which has shrunk
in half in just the last couple of years. Scientists say that it means the stream will not be
able to compensate for the cold from the Arctic winds. According to them, when the
stream is completely stopped, a new Ice Age will begin in Europe....

So much for Europe ;)  i allready say goodbya folks
I dunno if this Gulf Stream shrinking will affect you guys in the US too
but seeing Ripsnort's Video you have my prayers  :pray  :D

Now I'm really confused. I thought all the greens were wringing their hands over global WARMING?

What a great ecologic nightmare - it's everything! Manmade carbon will both turn the earth into an uninhabitable desert AND a barren snowy icicle!

They switched from "Global warming" to "climate change" a long time ago... People were pointing to record lows as counting the "warming" being Bull Honkey.

The only people who get snowed on and scoff at global warming are the ones who don't understand how weather works.

I belive it was a russian scientist who said that the Gulf Stream was slowing down but NASA and some other agenices did not agree. I dunno.. ive put on some thick wool socks just incase. October was milder that usual here, but November has been alot colder and they are saying the cold front we have now will stick around for atleast two weeks. Hmm... two weeks... where have i heard that before  :huh

Well last nights Arctic blast managed to explode one of my barns and lay a tree across my power line. So this morning we hve a 20X20 chunk of roof laying in the middle of the driveway with lovely 16 penny nails looking like a porcupine out there.

Like I really needed more on the to-do list

What's so hard to understand about warmer summers and colder winters, really?  All I've heard from the east this year is how darn hot the summer was and about how much snow they're already shoveling.  And they call us Californians loons.   :D   :bolt:

The high desert awaits you then.   :devil

If there really was any such thing as global warming it would mean more food for people worldwide.

Same here, October was soooo warm, daytimes i put my surfer shorts on no joke! but its getting really cold right now.
I dont know what really happen to the Gulf stream, but for sure we humans made an impact on the weather.
It sounds its getting colder, my feelings are its a side effect of a change towards a global warming, what we see right now
is just a physical reaction to fast changes, to hot here, to cold there and so on...

We have an inground spa (http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL767/2726312/23510941/393608857.jpg) that can be heated to 107 degrees. I keep it about 104 in this temp (23 degrees for a high yesterday!)

Polar bear club:
To be a member of our Polar Bear club, the temperature must be below 25 deg F and you must sit in a chair full of snow for 15 seconds.
On Mon night, my yongest son became a member. :)
