As many of you no I was the impetus for the no Icon concept in the AvA and I'm
thankful for the no Icons In the AvA I'm glad you took my idea and made it work.
My No icon recommendation to the AH community.

Then I discovered the AvA and recommended that No icons be Incorporated here. They tried it and it stuck. Thanks Staff!

Now look Its works its fun and draws a mature crowed
But lately the re is an element that is tarnishing this jewel I request that the AvA admins please police the poor behavior that we are seeing the the arena.
To many have worked to hard to let it go down hill like this

and we do. I'm a believer of treating everyone like adults and giving everyone respect they deserve. I think education will adjust behaviors far easier than tossing out through policing. If we have to throw people out for bad behaviour, we've already lost.
what we need is better marketing... maybe we could hire Brown to do a good campaign for us? :D

You get what you give.
Be calm and civil when you voice your displeasure with one's gameplay. Hang out in the tower for a few minutes and discuss without diving into the MA-attitude cesspool. We can police the arena ourselves - the Admins shouldn't have to be babysitters 24x7. If you believe things have gotten out of hand, use the Report function.
If you tire of getting shot down by teamwork, bring a new strategy (or a wingman) to the fight. Don't expect one to hang out and watch his buddy fight you...that's not their style...they're there to shoot you down. Granted, many times they merge guns blazing, but knowing that should help you set up for a more effective merge.
I hate getting shot down; I certainly get lots of practice with it though. I don't lose my cool often, and have seen that respect returned.

Better marketing?... So when we get new guys in the Areana they see a bunch of taunting in the room? You want the first impression to be positive not negative, that element needs to be eradicated.
We are trying to attract a mature crowed in here aren't we? They have been educated and treated like adults yet still continue to provoke.

Honestly cap I don't really know what would help. I just put trash talkers on 'ignore' and they don't bother me. I think the more we let them know they are bothering us the more they're going to continue to behave badly. Just this post is feeding them so, from this point forward, I'm not going to post anything nor allow them to get under my skin.
The class act regulars tolerate me and my foolishness, or at least they don't beat me up too badly, and I'll take that and be happy about it.

I understand the issue - we all hate the smacktalk and childish behaviour some people demonstrate in the arena. We want everyone to act civil and like gentlemen, but we're not going to get 100% participation.
If you find that the chatter is not respectful, you all have the .report command. If you decide to act just as immature as the offenders, are you really any better than them?

then we must also thank you for offering that suggestion.
it was the no icons, and the new map that originally finally lured me in here.....and here i am now spending all of my online flight time....and doing my damndest to push this arena, to draw in more good sticks.

best marketing in the world for ANYTHING is word of mouth.
this is why i keep bringing up the ava whenever i see an opportunity in other forums.

if you're refering to the stooges......just do as others have already said. keep calm, keep civil....even nice. keep film running too. they will bury themselves eventually. just be the bigger man in this situation. :aok

True - but hitech disabled channel 1 in the MA for the reason that players can't help themselves but smacktalk each other. We do have established country side channels for axis and allies. We also don't want to disable channel 1 because we want it to be different than the MA.

all it takes is 5 "report chat" logs of one player within a few minutes and they get an automatic text ban, i dont remember how long for though

has to be 5 different people and do you really think it will take long for any of them to say something stupid or offensive. all im saying is if everyone just clicked the report chat button everyone time any of them said something improper wouldnt take long for them to get a legit chat ban. first one is like 10 minutes, second is until skuzzy can review it and the 3rd is for 2 weeks if i remember right. If we take away their ability to gloat i think they will lose interest

I've been squelching these 3 players for the past couple nights as soon as I log in and found myself having a great time again instead of dealing with their nonstop heckling & badgering.

The whole game is nothing but vehicles and aircraft with guns and cannons made to kill others with guns and cannons.. Somebody posted pictures the other day of a Zeke and a P-39 flying side by side in harmony... Sheesh I wanted to wretch. We can be friends and we can respect each other I think that's great stuff but let's not get too touchy feely. The text buffer isn't what's important the area outside the cockpit is what's important. Don't worry about the name they called you or that they killed you and you didn't think the way they did it was cricket. Find em fight em and kill em. That's what this stuff is all about. It's a game... Play it and have fun.

Well I wouldn't really call it flying. More like failed vulching and crashing. He must of felt bad for our small ammo loads in the Zekes.

It's actually a hydrogen-powered magnetic accelerator tuned to the frequency of a "certain element". It pulls the hydrogen out of the water molecules in the air, so is self-charging and perpetualy powered.
Once enabled - usually auto-deployed when I drop flaps in the turnfight - it modifies the magnetic bonds of the atoms of that "certain element". I can't go into more details as I've submitted all the proper forms to patent this device and don't want any bad copies of this device floating around the Intardnetz.
The end result is, of course, the quick and less-than-gracious augering of my foe - face first - into the water. Yes, it IS stronger over water, but still effective over solid ground too (especially trees).

I think there is something here that many of you just aren't getting. AvA lost it's primary draw for some, at least for me it did. Having to put up with the MA style ego's and trash talk is the reason I don't fly the MA's. If I wanted to deal with stupidity after work, I would have just stayed there :lol. The AvA lost its charm of above average sticks, playing in a honorable fashion. That's gone now, the AvA draw for me went with it. I don't know how much of a free hand those of you in charge of the AvA have in there with rules and what not. But ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away. Maybe I'm the minority in this feeling, I don't know. But I have to think it's keeping more then just me out of there.

I treat everyone with the respect I expect from them.
If people don't get it at first, they eventually will.

I was just in there and after a short time, Rammey and Hoey showed up. You guys got them chat banned, so we talked via PM's. We met in the mountain pass - their P39's (I think that's what they were in) and my Zeke. Hoey PM'd me that he's out and good luck with Rammey. It was a good fight, which I eventually won. Then Hoey engaged and we too had a good fight, which ended up with my Zeke flying away alone. Hoey later told me that Rammey ordered him to stay out no matter what.
Now I don't know about you, but that speaks volumes to me about how one's conduct will affect others. I think it's time you guys man up and start having fun again. Laugh when you get shot down. Crack jokes. All anyone wants is to have fun and fly in an arena when the attitudes are left in the lobby.
I'm not saying we should all gather in a circle, hold hands and sing (I'll leave that up to Cap and Shifty ;)), but good grief boyz - show the good manners you are all so eager to see in the AvA.

Action has being taken to penalize dishonorable behavior and will continue. Things are smoothing out.
last night was much better and ~S~ were going around nicely.
over 25 player at one point it was the good old AvA. It was full of good sticks and camaraderie from both sides.
It is still on a more enjoyable level than the MA BigRat.

Yep I logged in expecting to find an empty arena and wound up being a chew toy for the 'other' guys. Note to self: Don't fly that late, when you're tired, and had more than one drink ;)

In all fairness if certain players would just make it less obvious they are purposly trying to get under other players skins we could all get along just fine. I finally got to the point i just squalch these guys as soon as i get in the room cause they NEVER have anything good to say about me nor do i care to read what they have to say about others. Not exactly sure what i did to get under their skin but ive been ignoring them for some time now.
