Götterdämmerung - The Push to the Rhine
As the spring thaws come to Germany, the last remaining vestiges of Germany's Panzerwaffe and Luftwaffe stage a fighting withdrawal into the heart of Germany - the industrial Rhine valley. The supply situation for the Allies has improved slightly, but armor units are still outpacing their supply lines, leaving themselves dangerously exposed as they press forward. Large-scale armor opposition has virtually disappeared, but more dangerous are the small guerrilla units of Tigers and Panzers roaming around the countryside. Although on the defensive, German forces are now on their own soil, making resupply much easier.
Armed with the vaunted Tiger and Me-262, the Germans are hard pressed to slow down the fighter bombers of the RAF and USAAF. All the while, Mustangs and Spitfires are on the prowl for the Messerschmitts and Focke-Wulfs of the Luftwaffe.
This is a fixed planeset, with perked aircraft and vehicles available at rear-area bases. Taking a perk plane might seem like a no-brainer, but the better the aircraft, the farther from the front you will be.
Specific aircraft types are outfitted for specific duties. In addition, British forces will be operating in the north, while US forces will be operating in the south.
Allied fighter aircraft will carry no ords.

Ground vehicles - in historical context, the Axis forces have a distinct advantage in GV quality, including use of the Tiger I and Wirbelwind. However, the availability of the Tiger is dependent upon the base - not all bases are equipped with Tigers. The Allies will have Firefly and 76mm Sherman, but will have to rely on air support to keep the German Jabos away.
Allied GVs
M4 75mm
M4 76mm (at US bases)
Firefly (at British bases)

Axis GVs
Tiger I (where available)
Panzer IV
Wirbelwind
Ostwind
SdKfZ 251
M8 (as a sub for German armored cars)
Kubelwagon (sub Jeep)
The key to this campaign are the strats. Although the Germans have jets, reducing their fuel factories will prevent them from flying to the front in that particular zone. Armor and aircraft must work together in order to succeed, especially since the Allies lack a definitive mobile AA vehicle.

Axis - Rooks
Neutral - Bish (do not attack A1)

sad part is that all this pee39 flying has probably ruined me in the pee38. gonna have to consult the consortium, and beg for permission to enable the deathstar/training mode on the blenders. :aok
and cool!! can't wait to see it!!

JEEPS!!!! It's on boys :lol
jeeps and 262's......be on the look out for muppets....... :noid :neener:

OK this is up.
Some notes:
127mph wind downdraft at 20k and above to effect a hard ceiling of 20k.
The following bases have air-spawns on the S runway
A3, A72, A73 and A28
Use these at your own risk. You are launched at 20k but with 0 airspeed and drop like a rock until you achieve enough speed to get lift, sometimes damaging your aircraft in the process.

Can the jeeps airspawn? :bolt:
-
Only on Axis side as sub for Volkswaffe.
-
WOOOHOOOO ;)

Flying Jeeps...with frikkin' laser beams. :aok

If I can make a suggestion. Can we move the A20's to forward bases. Their an attack plane and a heavy fighter in a pinch. Operating them from rear bases when you have boston's as formations would seem to be a waste. Just a suggestion.
:salute

And how did that go?
-
And how did that go?
i didn't. i lost pretty quickly. but then i found some low fights down near that base that lasted for about an hour or so. i have clean up crews still out there cleaning up the messes i left. :rofl

There are no bombers allowed at the front line bases? ;)
-
I demand you remove the B27 and enable the B92.
The B27 didn't even show up until the last few months of the war and only flew in the Mexican theater in the little known Tequila raids.

aha!! that's why i couldn't get my peeee38 near the front!!! :bolt:

Why no P38L in this setup?

We didn't have any reference to the 8th or 9th AF using the L model in 1945.

I can't speak to that specifically without some research but by 1945 the J's were boosted aileron versions and had the dive flaps which are the only game differences in the two models. The other differences aren't modeled in AH.
-
So you are basically saying the L model is a better representation of the later J model than the J model we have in AH?
I'll kick it around a bit.

There is a pretty good argument that the L in AH is really a J-25-LO. The P38J-25-LO had dive flaps and boosted ailerons as well as all of the previous mods (larger internal fuel tanks due to conversion of the leading edge from engine cooling to fuel storage, chin radiators and some other stuff not modeled in AH)
The major engine difference in the L versus the J is the altitude at which the engine produces its normal rated power. The J produced 1100 HP to 27,000 feet. The L maintained 1100 to 30,000. In AH this isn't modeled. If you compare the performance charts in AH they are identical when the L should have a performance boost over the J above 27,000 feet. So the L model in AH is actually a P38J-25-LO when it comes to performance. The L model had a bunch of other differences that AH doesn't model like power plant control automation features.
