AH works fine on my machine, but if I exit it and shut it down, not a single desktop or windows explorer icon can be double-clicked. The same goes for any item in the Start menu. I can still browse using IE, if the window was open before AH was invoked.
I basically have to reset the machine in order to do anything else with it.
This is starting to P me off.

Sounds like a problem I had. I fixed it by setting Roger Wilco from Direct Sound Recording to WAV Recording. Good luck.

Thanks Ozark, but I set RW to .wav recording when I installed it. Also, I get this problem when RW is not actually loaded.

Dowding, do you have all the 'critical files' updates from Microsoft? I used to have simliar probs back before the con, then Skuzzy, the nice guy he is, updated my machine with all the critical file patches that WIN98 had released....dunno if this will fix YOUR particular problem, but you should certainly start with updating every driver and your OS system first...
Another after thought,do you have WIndows managing your memory, or do you manage it yourself, and if yourself, what MIN/MAX do you use?

I thought the problem might be drivers, so I could the brand new Prophet II Pro drivers from Hercules (released the 3rd of March or something). No joy.
I haven't messed with the memory settings, so if auto is default, it must still be that way.
I don't think this is AH version dependant, so I think I'll try that Windows update thing.

Something's corrupt. Have you tried to reinstall the Win98 OS letting it overwrite your existing files?

I have close to the same setup.
I had the same problems.
I uninstalled DX8.0a, and went back to DX7.0a. It seemed to do the trick. Also, the Saitek might be conflicting as well. What SGE version are you running? Before 3.0 everything was fine, but when I installed SGE 3.0, I had problems.

I do have SGE 3.0 I think (I downloaded it from Saitek's server last month). Maybe that's it, because other games work without this problem (I don't use the Stick with them) and I've had no problems with any apps.

You might try newer via drivers as well.
They are at www.viahardware.com (http://www.viahardware.com)
I wouldn't install the bus master driver though. The AGP driver is the main one to keep current. (Make sure you install it in turbo mode.)

Btw check doing a ctrl-alt-del that you don't have any hang program in the background .
I've got this kind of trouble with an logitech radio keyboard/mouse and I was using EndItAll before starting AH and since I don't use it any more it works again.
