Title: Very Pleasing Case (cheap too)
Post by: Sky Viper on April 03, 2001, 10:06:00 AM
I thought I would share this just for information sake.

Being a cheap bastid, I found the lowest price 300W Mid Tower case I could put my hands on, literaly.

At a local geek show this weekend I found exactly what I was looking for.
Made by Future Power, this case was a dream to work with.  Nothing in the way, nothing missing, and everything aligned perfectly.
It's Item No. is T08M.

Some Features:
1. Both sides come off seperate and fit VERY well
2. 2 built in 80mm fan mounts for air draw and exhaust.
3. 7 Card Slots and 5 cover plates
4. 2 USB ports up front under cover with extension cables
5. EMI shields on all of the port covers
6. 2 Ext. 3.5 bays, 2 internal
7. 3 Ext. 5.25 bays

Very sturdy, light (8.38 Kg), and at 454x240x510mm, it's smaller than my old AT case.

I'm running a Duron 750 with a Thermal Take Volcano II, and only have 1 old 80mm fan for cool air draw at the moment. Yet it maintains avg 38°C (100°F) in my 70°F office. Max was 44°C after 4 minutes in a GV at a flattened smoking Medium Base. Quake3 Demo test only pushed it up to 41°C.

I have not yet found the company or anyone who sells them on the net.

Hot Damn Westy, you da man!

Looks like this one except that it has a black toned transparent cover over that lower USB access.
The dialog says,
Quote
"Fix the Motherboard with stand-off clips instead of brass screws to save your time",
and

Quote
"Side-opening top cover"
My case is not equipped for and I don't like the quick clips. I used the normal threaded standoffs and screws.
Side-opening Top cover...WTF kind of english is that?
The top, left, and right sides are 3 seperate pieces. The top is rivited firmly in place. The sides are aligned very neatly with slide in clips and 2 screws.

Also, the demensions don't match, but that may be because the demensions I have are of the box?  Will get a tape later and check.

Distribute?  Me?
How much ya gimme?  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Yeah.

And I read 2 possible objectives from your Question:
1. How much longer will China be allowed to ship products to the US given the current unrest.
2. I only buy Made in USA, or something similar.

Correct on either?

PRC or Taiwan China? Most PC stuff I'd have, that I know came form one of the China's, was Taiwan.

Made in Korea:

I need a new case. And this one looks good huh??  Decisions, decisions.....  And the price is sooo right.

The labels only say China. <shrug>

Yes, this one looks good!

Here's a thought:

I am one picky SOB about stuff like this.
I can't stand that people/companies make sh#% that is engineered by idiots, assembled by a crack monkey, or made out of 2nd rate material.
I seldom find cause to give praise, so when I do, you can be that it's a great piece of work!
I DID NOT start this thread because I wish to sell these cases, but I would be proud to carry them in my shop when/if I get one going.

A good example that I find in construction is the design of the 5.25" External Bay covers.  The fit snug, not tight, and are just rigid enough to keep them from flexing. Not hard to get in or out, but not easy to bump and knock out. I've had 4 Cases in my PC years... NOT one was this good!

Incidentally, I only had the 1 fan for drawing cool air until yesterday. Placing a second fan in the rear 80mm mount provided took my cpu temp down another 5°C.     (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

It's one hell of a deal when you consider how much a comparable Coolmaster would cost!

BTW, I like mine over the "ACE" listed in your link above, since mine has the semi-transparent black USB cover, Power Btn, Reset Btn, and Floppy Btn.
