Title: How many of you sods were ravers?
Post by: EskimoJoe on November 25, 2010, 06:05:36 AM
No, I'm not talkin about the kids now that are all "yeah dood, I'm headin to thiz rave latr tonight rite..."

I mean the original raver scene, way back in the 90s. The stuff in abandoned warehouses, the underground, when the music could be enjoyed without mass quantities of LSD and laserlights. Did any of you explore the genre "Electronica" back then? Do you have any stories, any good times to share? Maybe the best question, did you have (or still have) a favorite DJ from the time?

Just curious, I'm an Electronica sorta guy.

Actually I was a club jock back then.  I'd work my regular shift at a country bar then run over to Deep Ellum in Dallas TX to hang out with my mentor and occasionally spin his breaks for him.  Good times and I still love the music.

I liked raving back in the One Nation and Slammin days. I still DJ house and drum n bass when I get the urge.

Yep really. I got a pair of gemini PT2000s about ten years ago and my most recent mixer was the pioneer djm500, still working. Have you got an old cassette player handy? I can send you a tape.  :D Now that you mention it I should set it all up again and put something on CD.

edit: Oh i should clarify: Never had a job as a DJ, just used to do it with friends and go round doing house parties for people.

Went to a few with some friends...never could get into that music though. It just wasn't for me but the atmosphere was great and the people were cool.
