Title: Aircraft weapon recoil question
Post by: waystin2 on November 25, 2010, 08:35:22 AM
Is weapon recoil (cannon, machinegun) modeled on aircraft in Aces High?

as far as I know yes it is

Back when I raced I looked into the pros and cons of emptying the guns. Firing them did affect speed and acceleration for the few I looked at. I think the Hurri IID is the most pronounce example.

Yes, it is.  If you unlock the brakes by getting a very slight forward movement and then hold the triggers down you will start rolling backwards.  On some lighter aircraft with lots of ammo, N1K2-J's for example, you can get moving backwards fairly fast.

Ty gents.  A modeling discrepancy moving to the wishlist soon...

If you watch yourself on climb out with auto takeoff, and hit your guns, most will nose down slightly.  I noticed this in the TA one day, and thought, wow they did think of a lot of things while modeling these planes :aok

Actually if you zoom in when your firing the bigger calibres such as 110, K4, P39, there is definate recoil action noticeable.  :salute

So *that's* how you back up after landing on a carrier deck, so you can reload?

Actually no, if you carefully just give your plane a little throttle on the deck of a carrier you will start to roll back.  Just be ready to cut the throttle and hit the breaks so you don't slide off the back.

If you ever find yourself rolling backwards in the B-25H, you can make yourself keep rolling backwards by firing the cannon.

When H2H was around, many of those rooms had 10X ammo or something, and the P47 would have like 16 THOUSAND rounds of ammo at takeoff, and even with wep, ya couldnt get it over 200 mph tryin to fire off the excess

The cannons on the Hurri-D used to fire alternately. The kick from those big 40mm one at a time caused such a yaw that it very difficult to hit anything. HTC changed them to fire at the same time so the kick will be even on both wings and not swing you around.

Do you know if this was a gameplay concession or were the Hurricane IID cannons supposed to be in synch?
