How do you like to play this great game? What do you like to do and find fun in the game?
For me, I like to help take bases. FH's need to be dropped? I'll do that. GV's near or in town? I'll kill them. Nobody's bringing troops? I'll bring them. I like to do the stuff that is most needed to help capture a base, because who doesn't love that feeling when the text buffer tells everyone the base you've all worked so hard to take has been taken?
I also love to fly to live. Every sortie I fly, I plan on returning back to base alive; with or without kills. I love going out into a fight in my plane, getting a few kills, and then coming back home alive (though I don't enjoy the massive furballs and stay clear of them and Titanic Tuesday). I love the small fights where, after a few sorties, you know who will be piloting that 109K4 before you even get into the fight or get the kill. I have so much more fun going into a fight, getting shot up, and making it back to base alive with no kills than going into a fight, getting 6 kills, and then dieing. I always get really REALLY annoyed when I die, especially if it's because I did something I should have known better to do. Even in the most fun fights, once I die it really takes all my urge to takeoff again away and I log off for a few hours. It's not as bad if I die in a great 1 on 1 fight to a really great stick though (I always give those guys a :salute )
So what do you like to do most in AHII?

Hate tanking, love bombing gv's, vulching, killing buffs in262's going to the DA to 1v1, talk with squadies, and fly a p38
-
It all depends on my BAC but FSO is the main thing for me, other than that I just go with the flow.
-
I like defending against CV attacks. Quick low alt fights.
I also used to like defending against Noes for the same reason.
-
I do whatever strikes me as fun when I log in. Being an AVA guy if there's nobody on I find something silly to do until the numbers come up. Then I do what I can to even out the sides, try new rides, and die spectacularly. FSO's with my squad I spend time working on knowing the mission and the platform and trying as hard as I can to at least live.
Quite frankly I love WWII aviation history and the insight I get from not only the game but the myriad of people who have really studied it and post about it would be enough for me to be happy. But honestly the reason I still play this game is the people who are in and around it. I've been all over the US and all over the net and I've never met a finer group of people.
That's what makes it fun for me.

Fight Kill Die
Sometimes I pretend i'm a commercial airline pilot that went through a time warp and just watch people fight kill die.
-
Im like you Latrobe in that, no matter what the sortie, I plan on returning alive. I like to put that realism on myself that "this is my only life" kinda thing, and that there isnt 1000+ more of these in the hangar, why bother? even when there is.
I love Dogfighting, GVing, and scenarios. Other than that, you will rarely see me "take a base". If friendlies are in the area trying to then yeah, my fighter support role is for them, making sure the goon doesnt get killed etc. or defend a base.
-
FYI it's just "Aces High" now. I like everything in Aces High, the fighter missions and the attack missions. The variety of targets is nice too. :D

How do you 'Fly Aces High II' ??
Need you ask? :D

Go fast and kill :aok
-
I like to fly. In Aces High.
Guess that sums it up for me.
-
Out looking for a good fight. Never had much interest in the GV side or winning the war. Air to Air is what I enjoy

I like to do everything. If I do one thing again and again I will get bored real easily.
I like to go on runs and get as many kills I can And rearm and do it again. And I also like to bomb with really big bombs. (400lb and 1800kg) :D
-
So what do you like to do most in AHII?
Have fun.
ack-ack

It varies each time however, I do enjoy flying bombers to hit the Capital. I don't do it for perks or to land damage, I simply do it because it is fun and will hurt a country if hit enough times. :devil I do find it quite rare to find people willing to hit the Capital enough times to make it hurt though. Most will up once, MAYBE twice with me. But almost everyone does not stick around for the "long haul". It takes time and repeated bomb runs to hurt the Capital.
Last night was an extremely rare treat for me though, as 2 others in the squad I fly with stayed and kept working the Knight Capital with me. The 71 RAF routed us 3 or 4 times, but that only made it more fun. You probably thought we had given up when we actually decided to take a break. We had been launching continuous strikes against it well before you guys routed us. I really wasn't feeling well and my gunnery showed that. :lol I barely did anything to you guys. Still had fun and shot a couple of you guys down. I liked how you attacked with those Mossy's. That was a blast. :salute Maybe next time, I'll provide a better bit of gunning. :devil We had chosen that same path each time you guys routed us, because we figured you'd be there to intercept. It reminded me of that demo that played in Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe. :lol We kept getting blasted just before target, except once. One of us DID make it to target and got his bombs off, though he didn't make it home. Either way, it was a blast. :salute
-
I like to fly escort for bishop bomb groups. :aok
-
Dueling Arena and FSO covers all my needs
-
I like to do many things:
Fight offense.
Fight defense.
Fight in Tanks, Ships, Fighters, Bombers, on the ground, low alt, med alt, high alt.
Sometimes take a prize with a LVT, C47 or M3.
Currently enamored with the T34, M4A3, P51B, F4U-1, B17s, B24s, P39s, Yak9T (this gradully changes over time)
Winning teh war is really the last thing on my mind. The only good thing that comes from that is the scenery change. I am far more interested in defending a base being attacked or taking one that is being defended. That is where the fights are.
-
I like it all. If I get bored & need a change, I'll do something I haven't done in a while, like babysit a CV and keep it from being sunk. When I fly, it doesn't break my heart to get shot down. Some guys will con a couple newbs into flying as their wing-man and tell them if he gets shot down, it's their fault. That he's the most important plane in the squad and if they get shot down, that's OK, that's their job...to protect him! Goes into a tirade :furious over getting killed when his wing man is screaming at him to, "Turn, high fast Mossie" that no one saw. Yes I got killed too. :cry I'm not making this up either... :neener:
Back to some fun. I love flying something I haven't flown a lot & improving my skills enough to get a few kills and not die so often, But to me getting shot down is OK. It don't hurt a bit. :rofl If it did I'd have quit a year ago. Hopefully every time I get beat I pick up something small to take to the next fight.

i like dropping bombs on things and shooting TBM's and JU88's :old:
-
Luv bombing, flying escort, ground attack, but most of all I love large furballs at low level, nothing like a good dogfight low down where I can be a total spitdweeb :x :airplane:
-
1) stealing kills
2) circling my base 75 miles in friendly territory at 30,000ft waiting for somebody to fly underneath me.
3) helping the other 12 guys get that 1 spit, because It doesn't look like they "got it"
4) ramming planes not on the runway
5) running from fights for sectors
6) check6ing people even though the enemy plane has already flown passed them.
7) flying ta-152
8) repetitively carpet bombing that same patch of grass about 300 yards away from the entire airfield
9) ramming planes still on the runway
10) taking off of carriers that are near enemy HQ and undiscovered.
11) dropping entirely too much ord on your vehicle.
12) rocket vulching
15) hiding in the map room
16) landing on things I should not
17) getting T-boned by runway crossing convoys
18) HO'ing in my 262
19) accumulating multiple collisions per sortie

Killing bombers with a 110 and sidewinders.
Complaining about not having a Me410 so I can kill bombers faster and at higher alts.

Ho Ho! :rofl

I prefer the pick and 1 v 1 game.
If I am in a furball I am most likely picking, unless I have a wingman.
If it is a 1 v 1 I will most likely fight, unless I have reason(s) as to why I can't fight.
Bombing and GV'ing just isn't my thing, could never get into a tank and actually have fun. Takes one egg for me to hop in a plane and egg someone else. :lol
Bombing is just too slow pace...
1. You have to get off the runway
2. It takes ages to get to your target(Unless in B26-B25-Ki67-etc.)
3. If you aren't high enough people act as if they have never seen a bomber before.
4. The Calibration Sight hates me
5. My Gunning sucks, so I am very easy kill. :neener:
-
I fly ords porking missions alone mostly but not by choice. I resupply fields and run GV supplies to folks that need them and I am one of about five Bishops that will defend a base. I am mostly a tanker but can't find a tank fight anymore. If I had better frame rate I would try to dogfight.
But the fun part is hanging out on line with other folks the love this game.
-
I enjoy being a part of a squad ....winging up and knowing someones got your back. Other times i'm at 30k bomber hunting :devil I seldom run from a fight ...i die alot...but its making me a better player.

I've always enjoyed that from time to time too. I look at what base may become under attack soon, take my plane over there, and just wait and patrol the skies. Soon enough one or two guys eventually show up and I always have fun in those fights.
Nice Pic too btw! :aok

Volron, that was alot of fun. You guys flew a really good box of bombers. It was very difficult for us to attack. The ju-88s were hard enough, I think it was krusty, warspawn and myself in two 190A8s and a p38s that time. We limped home with fluids leaking on that run. Then when we found you in B-17s we knew we were in for a harder fight. I think it was Redtop, Krusty and myself again in mossies.
It was really good to see some dedicated bobmer tactics. You shot us all down that run, i think. I know you personaly definitely got me.
S! to those guys in bombers that night, very enjoyable conflict even if I did only get shot up repeatedly.
For me in AH, I just like to have fun. Friends and enemies to talk to. People to fly with and shoot at. Don't need more than that.
batfink.

I kind of approach AH like a big game hunter. My primary aim is to bag pelts and live to land them. If you die while you bag them you really just became the prey yourself. Hunting human prey is really the ultimate hunting experience and using WWII aircraft to do it is just that much more fun and immersive.

In a manner which will piss off the masses!!

Lately, I cruise the forums.
Been two years, and the addiction lies dormant. But the day of relapse may not be long off.
After all, I'm essentially doing the equivalent of driving by the liquor store, over and over....
-
I also live to fly, fly to live. I never GV. I love the high altitude buff hunts, or escorting them, or flying them. I enjoy the vast plane selection and using many different types keeps the game fresh. I love it all, including the turnfights on the deck, I'm just not going to start there. Having a great squad also keeps everything fresh. The right squad adds alot to the game, finding one that acts in a civil manner, does not argue within themselves, and fights with honor while populated with legendary killers :rock 's.
-
I play just to see Shawks mullet.
-
1. Fly in a ham-fisted, skillless manner and hope to get a kill or two before getting pwned.
2. Bomb GVs without mercy and relish every Wirbel kill with a quiet chuckle of satisfaction.
3. Decimate entire groups of vulchers in the trusty 37mm field gun.

So what do you like to do most in AHII?
Exactly like this, minus the getting annoyed when i die part :aok
Basically i enjoy playing the "whole" game
-
I love flying for the thrill. The feeling of killing 2-5 enemy contacts in my P51B outnumbered and you need all your SA and ACM to come to victory. i also love wingman/flight tactics. My squad is divided into 4 man flights and each in a flight has a dedicated wingman.
I also fly to live. I need to land almost always and most of my squaddies also fly the same way as it is part of our doctrine to never leave a man behind. Whether they are squaddies or not. In a fighter sweep mission i try to make sure that as many of us land successfully together.
I do not like the feeling of using people in mission as fodder whether its an NOE, bomb raid, fighter sweep, or general GV or air raid on a base.
I hate that fodder feeling...

Killing bombers with a 110 and sidewinders.

Har! Sidewinder is a missile. 110 has fused rockets & they don't even have prox fuses. :D I love it too.
-
I have a fond for waging either deck fights or medium alt fights. I hate fights that are too high. Guess ima landluber
-
I love getting in those impossible situations and seeing how long I can live for. I love the challenge of mastering a new airplane and seeing my progress when fighting against guys I know are much better than me.
I like defending a base against the horde in a gv. Hell I just love this game, pretty much all aspects.
-
Tank-busting. I love it.
-
How do I fly Aces High... :headscratch: Hmm.. Badly, I try to "fly to live", but I rarely make it home. So I keep re-upping until I hit something and survive.
I did enjoy escorting NOE raids, but now gameplay is all about defending from the bish 'Super Horde', but at least it's target rich.

Drunk   :neener:

when i fly, i log in and look for the BIGGEST red dar bar there is, i roll my tiff, i keel a couple red guys, i die....rinse and repeat :)

I like killing vTards with my La-5FN
I like coming on to the BBS and wishing for an La-5
I like coming to the BBS to say SU-122 :noid in the threads that BAR says M-18 :noid
and lastly, I like it when I have a really good argument with someone on 200 then have a really good fight against them without knowing it, finding out when I win/lose the giving them an <S>
