Well just curious if anyone has ever had a "flu" like I am having right now....basically no fever, no stomach ache, no nothing....EXCEPT my body feels like it got hit by a truck.....its almost like everything is sore, arms, legs, hands, chest, back, neck, so forth, EVERYTHING HURTS. Whenever I try to get up, walk, pick something up, I am in pain. Has anyone had an illness like this before? Im crossing my fingers its a 24 hour flu...im supposed to go to the range tomorrow......and work sat night.... lol

no fever not likely the flu
Symptoms (YAHOO HEALTH)
The flu usually begins abruptly, with a fever between 102 and 106 °F. (An adult typically has a lower fever than a child.) The fever usually lasts for a day or two, but can last 5 days.
Other common symptoms include:
•Body aches
•Chills
•Dizziness
•Flushed face
•Headache
•Lack of energy
•Nausea
•Vomiting
Other symptoms may include:
•Loss of appetite
•Muscle aches and stiffness
•Stuffy, congested nose
•Sweating
•Worsening of underlying illness, such as asthma or heart failure
what ever is wrong with you is not a normal bug. full body aches that run even into the smaller extremities (hands) is abnormal. if your symptoms lasts more than a day or seem to get worse go to the doctors. even if it is just the flu, the fact that you got it means your body is now weakend and your immune system is compromised. this is the worst part of the flu, it weakens you so badly that you are at risk of every other bug that you may be exposed to. your immune system will need some help and support to get you through without secondary sicknesses.
take it easy and good luck to you.

mmm I checked with a nurse that is a friend of mine, says she is thinking its a flu, and that not all flu viruses have fevers.

Well yeah, but, that's the oldest you've ever been.

I've had that before. For me it was gone in a few days. I felt perfectly fine when doing nothing (no moving) but whenever I moved it hurt like hell.
-
Go see a doctor

we actually have a mosquito borne virus here called Ross River Virus that has the sort of symptoms you are talking about. Are you really tired all the time and could just sleep for a few days?

The kind of muscle aches (myalgias) can be the starting symptom of a lot of illnesses. It CAN be the first sign of the plain old flu, but depending on what part of the country you're in it's probably a little early in the season for traditional influenza. Last year the Swine Flu started in November, but generally peak season for influenza is February or March.
And influenza can come on slowly. What is commonly called a "flu bug" is actually often another virus, which is why we're used to 2 -4 day illnesses. Many don't realize that true blue "brand name" influenza is a 10-14 day illness. The average healthy adult who gets the flu feels bad enough that even the tough will miss 2-3 days of work.
True influenza may develop symptoms over the first several days of illness. Importantly, TREATMENT CAN SHORTEN THE ILLNESS - BUT ONLY IF YOU START THE RIGHT MEDICINE WITHIN 48 HOURS of symptom onset.
If you have any rashes, or if you've done any travel, less common things may be going on.
-
No travel or anything, just pain.

Sometimes I'll start running a high fever and I don't feel that bad, but other times I feel like crap and I'm not running a fever or anything.
Probably just a virus

Im not saying this to worry you, but have you ever been tested for Lymes disease? What you are explaining are classic symtoms of it, and no you dont need to have that "Red Bullseye" from the tick bite.
Id get checked out sir :salute

Sarcasm on:
Enemy tactical nuke inbound, it's over!
Sarcasm off:

Yes, do get checked for Lyme disease- it'll kill you if you don't.

my same first thought, i just didnt wanna put a name on it. if you tell someone that it sounds like a specific thing then they get the thought in their head and actually will believe they are developing symptoms they dont really have. makes a doctors job even harder. thats why i just sugested for him to go see the doc.

I'm actually wanting to become a M.D. somday and I'm very well versed in viruses. What it sounded like at first was Mononucleosis. It can be difficult to tell what a certian bug is by symptoms alone, as someone could be asymptomatic. Someone could have influenza, but have no fever. A person could have mono, and not have lymphatic swelling. If you give me all your symptoms I could give you a direct answer as to what it may be. It could be what Spikes had, or not. It all has to do with symptoms... and tests :devil
So P.M. me your symptoms and I'll see what I can do.

Good point. The only reason i know about it is because my 10yrold son has it. Hes fine now, we caught it really early, no side effects, no symptoms thank go, but everytime he has a muscle ache, me and mom get a tad freeked out.
Regarding what you said about developing symptoms that you dont actually have...........I once asked my doc (we have been friends and fishing buds for years) what he thinks of these websites (Web Md etc..)where you type in your symptoms and it gives you a diagnosis. I thought he was going to flip his lid, ive heard less 4 letter words on a construction site :lol He told me a story of a woman that plugged her symptoms into WebMD and came in on an emergency appointment, She was 100% convinenced that she had Cholera, and nothing he could do would assuage her anxiety. When the blood work came back, it was found that she had a combo of the common cold, and menapause :rofl
