Title: Bad lag issues
Post by: Dr_Death8 on November 29, 2010, 09:11:35 AM
I think Hitech needs to take a look at possibly implementing some form of connection measurement system where if your system lags too much, you are automatically booted out of the game.

Anyone which was attacking A7 in the Orange arena can attest to the amount of warping and ridiculous flying being done by a certain individual in an IL-2. I am not saying this was intentional, but firing after being past GVs and other planes and scoring hits and kills, constant 90 degree cornering, flying into and through objects, and flying after tail being completely shot off yet not being killed upon crashing.  In one instance, his IL-2 had past a formation of B-17 and fired more than 1.5K after passing the formation, killing one of the drones.  :huh

Yes I do have films of it and several other Knits can attest to the warping. I can see it if this was a single flight or a few minutes, however this individual was flying like this for a good hour or better. I reviewed the AH films from external from the IL-2 and the flying is the same, and it was not my system as I recorded with frame counting on and run a constant 59. I know lag can be a pain in the butt and can cause issues, but come on, this was ridiculous.  :salute If you know your lag is bad, be a man and log until a time you can get a better connection, not use it to your advantage to run your score up.   :salute

Yes, I am done whining now and yes I do feel better.   :cry

This game is for everyone who can connect to it. If you have a bad warper in the area..... try flying elsewhere.

Imagine if you lived out in the middle of nowhere and loved this game.

I believe it was AKSleepy at the time stated he was operating from a laptop with a remote connection card and even he was complaining about the lag. I have known individuals which have dial-up connections that do not warp that bad. :salute

I also question it when the individual has over 115hrs of flying and GVing for the month of November.  :salute

not the place for this. if you have the films, then send them to htc, let them do what they do best.

AKSleepy is a truck driver, so he is on the road a lot. He has to deal with the wifi connections of our nations truckstops. So, it wasnt intentional on his part, just something we all have to grin and bare from time to time.  :salute

Ummm... Because it is public information available to anyone. Don't wrry Cap, it was not you and I am not picking on anyone, more of a general statement. Last time I checked, This is the right thread, or is this thread reserved for whines about DAR and plane choices only??   :salute

I had to reply to this because I am on of the guys your "lag detector" would affect.  I fly from Iraq, along with a guy named Clown13.  During the time we are able to connect, our pings are anywhere from 450s on a good day to 1000 on a bad.

Is it your desire to take the escape from us because we do not have a choice of internet providers or the Iraqi government has not decided to wire their entire country with fiber optic cables yet ( I am sure they have more to worry about than my internet connection)?

Now, being on the receiving side with bad lag.  More often than not, I will be killed by guys who were completely out of position.  I have been HOed, thinking I avoided and starting my initial move only to find out I am missing a wing.  I have been shot in GVs before I knew I had spawned.  Trust me, it is no fun flying with lag like that and if I had a choice I would definitely get a better, more reliable connection.  I really do not like paying 88 dollars a month for a service that works about 40% of the time.

Hitech and company made the right choice in allowing all players to enjoy their product.  I, for one, am very appreciative of the work they put into this game.

I'm another one who has had dial-up as my only alternative for years before DSL finally showed up here in the ***-end of Oregon. I thank HiTech for continuing to keep low-speed connections in mind as he makes advances in this game. It's better for his business- as in this game is one of a very few that still can be played on lower speed connections. It's great for all the out-of-town country bumkins like myself that can tune in and enjoy it.

But this can be applied both ways. I don't pay $ just to be attacked by people I can't fight because they're warping so bad. When a warper decides to engage me, I'm forced to adjust my playing around his. You ask of us to consider your game play. Consider ours.

how about a separate arena for those with bad connections and they can all fly into the ground and warp on each others 6 all day long?

I'm joking of course :noid , but yea i love fighting people who fly backwards into the ground and then before I see them again I'm returned to the tower having been shot down by em.

You have fought me and have seen for the most part my connection is clean, only laggy.  If I lose UDP, I try to leave the area I am fighting and relog immediately.  I put out a blast on 200 saying I lost udp and am rtbing to relog but people do not care.  I then get shot down and called all sorts of crap because I started warping.

I shouldn't have used the word "you" and should have spoken more in generalities. I haven't noticed you warping at all actually.
It happens to all of us occasionally at some point. :salute
I'm really thinking about the people who know and don't care.
